I realise that the catalog pages of ToyztoSell.com went offline for a while this week. I regret the occurence as I had fiddled with my C-Panel and caused the error. I have already rectified the techincal error and now it’s back online.
Almost all the toy collectors I know are using Paypal for their online toy shopping and sales. Like everything else, the initial learning curve of using Paypal will be a bit uphill. However once you get the hang of it, you’ll just need to use some of the main functions only. You can explore the rest of the support functions in your Paypal account when you have the time.
You can deposit funds into your Paypal account from your own bank account, or you can receive funds into your Paypal account from other Paypal account holders. Doing the former will take more time and even occur bank fees, depending on your bank. So you can find a friend who already has exising funds in his or her Paypal account and pay your friend, then your friend will transfer the agreed sum of funds from his or her Paypal account into yours.
For buying and selling of toys online, you’ll need a form of payment method. A very popular online payment today is via Paypal. I was introduced by a local pony collector to using Paypal around 10 years ago, when it was first started.
Before Paypal came about, toy collectors mostly mailed out bank drafts, money orders or even cash to online sellers. Back in those days, not everyone could pay for online goods and services by credit card. I had been through all these ‘primitive snail mail’ payment methods in my early days of acquiring toys from overseas.
Paypal’s service “allows anyone to pay in any way they prefer, including through credit cards, bank accounts, buyer credit or account balances, without sharing financial information.” Instead of using account numbers or revealing credit card information to sellers, you use a valid email address as your “ID” to make payment to and from.
My fellow pony collector flew off to the USA yesterday to attend the My Little Pony Fair 2008 held on Rhode Island next month. I hope he has a very fruitful trip and experience there. I wanted to go along as well but in the end I didn’t. Maybe I’ll next year instead. Nevertheless, there’ll be photos of the fair posted on the pony collectors’ forums to view and admire, just like all the years before. I defintely look forward to hearing about his ‘fun adventures’ over there!
It must be the cartoon being shown on the local kids’ channel. I notice that the kids at the toy departement of the shopping malls here are very fond of the Transformers Animated figures. Even the collectors have turned their attention on this latest series of Transformers toys. I believe the ongoing Great Singapore Sale has something to do with the interest too.
The Movie Transformers toys, that were once highly sought after by their fans are now finally on sale, though it’s mostly the unpopular or lesser known characters left on the racks. Then again, if you are still looking for certain characters like the Movie version of normal Bumblebee (yellow color with black stripes), or Stealth Bumblebee (black color with yellow stripes), they can still be found at discounted prices.
I’ve seen countless of these Bumblebees already but I’m mainly interested in the Movie Transformers Legends mini figures that Im still missing from my mini collection. Maybe I’ll finally get them during this sale.
I remembered to bring out my voucher today but the Toy ‘R’ Us branch just didn’t have the Ponyville Starsong Rock Band set for me to use it on. It was such a kill joy. I wasn’t keen to get other toys there so I decided to use the voucher another time.
Nevertheless, I ended up buying other non-toy items instead at another shopping mall. My trip to Orchard Road had been very fruitful too, having met with 4 Lamborghinis, 4 Ferraris and 5 Porches there (I meant the real cars of course!).
Today is only the second day of the 2 month-long annual Great Singapore Sale, and the shopping malls and shops are crowded with shoppers eager to grab the best bargains as early as they can. I met up with a pony collector pal today and we visited some of the malls in Orchard Road.
Today being a Saturday and also because of the Sale, all the shopping places were packed with people. The month-long school holidays had just began today too and naturally the toys sections of all the departmental stores were filled with lots of kids and their parents, plus maids and grandparents etc.
It was a bit of a chore to visit the toy stores today because of the exceptionally larger crowds, but at least I got to view the latest Ponyville sets and the new G3 Scootaloo with her remote-controlled scooter set. Alas I forgot to bring out my Toy ‘R’ Us voucher today so I’ll have to purchase the Ponyville pony, ‘Rock Star’ Starsong another time.
The stores were also very well stocked up with the new Transformers Animated figures. My pony collector pal couldn’t resist and bought a cute Transformers Animated Bumbleebee figure. Most toys were on sale, except for the Transformers Animated toys. The stores are ‘clever’ to capitalize on the popularity of the latest range of Transformers toys, so the fans and collectors have to buy them at retail prices even during the Great Singapore Sale. How sad…
The post title says it all! This is such a cool find and I don’t mind being the one who found her! This lovely blue custom G3 pegasus pony was ‘abandoned’ at a thrift shop in Canada and was subsequently found by a collector there. She was made from the G3 pegasus pony called Silver Glow (I call her Silver Star in my herd).
I think the customizer did a wonderful job and we all wonder why he or she didn’t want this custom pony anymore. Or perhaps this pony could had been a gift by the customizer to someone else but that recipient later decided not to keep her, for whatever reason. I could only congratulate the lucky finder!
A local My Little Pony collector spotted some new G3 ponies in the stores. They are Scootaloo and her remote controlled scooter (SGD 39.90), My Little Pony backpack with a Ponyville Rainbow Dash (SGD 24.90 with 1 miserable pony only), and Ponyville Starsong and her rock bank accessories (SGD 9.90).
I like Starsong’s rock band accessories, better than the Popcorn Movie Theater set that I already have. If I had known that Hasbro would re-release Starsong in a 3-pack tube set or with this much cooler Rock Band accessories pack, I wouldn’t have bought that space-consuming theater set last year. I had only wanted the pony and not her theater playset.
Anyway, I’ve a voucher from Toys ‘R’ Us and I’ll probably use it to get this ‘rock star’ Starsong. Hopefully, her Rock Band Bus playset will be out in the stores soon during this coming Great Singapore Sale! I have a few other Ponyville ponies in my collection, hence they can later form up a Ponyville rock band to rival my other existing mini Transformers rock band called the Hot Rocks!
