Other countries had already received this set of ”My Little Pony Core Friends Wave 1” by the end of 2008.  Here in Singapore, they had just reached our departmental stores this month.  I’d already commented about this set in my last post in Oct 2008. 

Back then I could not really tell if those extra pattern designs on the ponies are printed on them or not.  Now that I have seen these ponies in person in the stores here, I can confirm that those extra pattern designs are indeed printed on them. 

Only Cheerilee (magenta pony with yellow hat) looks reasonably okay.  The rest are not that special-looking.  Nevertheless, any of these ponies would still make a suitable gift for a little pony-fan kid, who does not already own these “Core 7″ pony characters.

I found the photos of the last 2 Core 7 My Little Pony Newborn Cuties from the MLP Arena and they are of Rainbow Dash and Toola Roola.

Rainbow Dash is part of the Newborn Cuties Theme Packs set.  Her accessories are not as cute-looking as those in the other 3 Newborn Cutie Playsets that I posted about 2 days ago.  My guess is that these Theme Packs will cost around SGD 15.90-19.90 each.

Toola Roola is a single pack Newborn Cutie.  This part-straddle sitting pose on the whole looks better than the other upright sitting pose such as for Starsong and Scootaloo.  I guess that this single pack will cost around SGD 10.90.

2009 Valentine Pinkie Pie

Hasbro had been releasing Valentine-themed G3 My Little Pony around this time of the year since 2005. There had always been 2 pony characters in each Valentine set.  I recall that Hasbro Singapore brought in the G3 Valentine My Little Ponies only once and that was in 2006.  Since then we haven’t been getting any more. 

2009 Valentine Sweetie Belle

These 2009 Valentine My Little Ponies (seen above) were spotted at some departmental stores in Malaysia (from Dec 2008 to Jan 2009).  Hopefully, they will also make their way to our Singapore departmental stores soon!  So far almost all the My Little Pony range found in Malaysia, are also sold in Singapore, except for the 2008 Winter Ponies range that consists of a beautiful and unique-looking Minty. 

One thing to note though, the symbols and patterns that you see on the above Valentine ponies are on the display side only.  This is very typical of the G3 My Little Pony series.  I definitely prefer to have those elaborate designs on both sides of the ponies, but this has been Hasbro’s ‘habit of incompleteness’ since they launched the G3 My Little Pony toy line in 2003.

Here we have the next 3 characters of the Core 7 My Little Pony characters that Hasbro had decided to focus on since last year 2008.  They are Sweetie Belle (white unicorn), Pinkie Pie (pink) and Cheerilee (magenta). 

These set of 3 Newborn Cuties Theme Packs come with more and larger accessories to play with.  I find the accessories very cute and I might get this set just for accessories only, when there is a sale at the departmental stores.

Mere words just cannot describe the current trend that Hasbro has in mind for the G3 My Little Pony toy line in 2009.  Some of my pony collector friends find the Newborn Cuties adorable but I do not like them, hence I’ll not be collecting them. 

Again like the 2009 Ponyville that I posted about 2 days ago, this set of newborn ponies look neither human nor ponies.  Newborn pony foals definitely look nothing like these!  I’d rather Hasbro make regular baby ponies that stand on 4 legs.

Scootaloo (orange) is the so called ’short packed’ pony in this set.  Come to think of it, I wonder if these Newborn Cuties even have tails?  I can’t see their tails from the catalog photos.

This gorgeous My Little Pony is a gift from to me from my pony collector pal as he had an extra.  She’s Velvet Bow from the 2006 Winter Ponies series that weren’t sold here in Singapore.  My friend was still studying and living in Australia back then and he often bought ponies from the departmental stores there. 

Velvet Bow is really much prettier in person than seen in the photos.  My friends calls Velvet Bow a “Russian Pony”.  To me she looks dressed like a tai-tai (a.k.a. rich man’s wife) minus a mini branded hand bag!  Anyway I gave her a matching ribbon to retain her nice original curly mane style.

Hurray!  This is the first of the 2009 My Little Pony Ponyville sets with mane wigs to hit our local departmental stores.  The La Ti Da Hair & Spa Salon playset comes with a building that can close up to contain the pony and all the accessories inside. 

It also comes with 3 interchangeable mane wigs to give your pony different mane styles like a model.  The playset costs SGD 36.90 and as usual, it’s best to get it during a sale to stretch our dollars!

These photos were provided by miss_tuneful on MLP Arena.  This latest 2009 Ponyville set have been found at K-Mart (Australia), Wal-Mart (Ontario) and Target (USA).  My Pony collector pal also spotted this set at a departmental store here in Singapore this week.

I don’t like this version of Ponyville and it makes the ponies neither pony nor human.  They just look very disturbing to me.  I think they cost around SGD 10.90 each.  Anyway I’m skipping this set.

This photo of Ponyville Pinkie Pie as a Unicorn was spotted by a member of MLP Arena on Hasbro’s French website. 

The website has a history of posting prototype pony photos that never made it to the market.  Hence we all believe that this unicorn Pinkie Pie is likely to be another ‘mistake’. 

However Pinkie Pie really looks so cute as a unicorn with her soft pink body color and multi-toned pink mane and tail.  If only Hasbro would really go ahead and ‘make this mistake’ in the actual production line!

Looking at today’s date, it’s kinda of ’scary’ how fast time passes by.  It’s already 12 days into the new year of 2009 and I haven’t planned the important things to do that will influence the rest of the year for me.  I was supposed to have completed my planning in the last week of 2008.

I feel bad that my mind is still plagued by this evil entity called “procrastination” that discourages and slows me down in many things I need to do.  So my first new year resolution for 2009 is to kick this bad habit of “procrastination”.  That’s right, and it shall start with immediate effect!
