ROTF Deluxe Shoulder-Cannons Bumblebee action figure review

As mentioned in my earlier blog posts, here’s a detailed video review of another upcoming version of ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee action figure with shoulder cannons!  This review is quite refreshing as it’s done by a 15-year old fan.  It’s nice to get perspective from a younger age group, besides the adult fans.

I like this ROTF Deluxe Shoulder-Cannons Bumblebee action figure too.  It’s just a pity the chest or bonnet pieces do not ’separate’ like in the other Deluxe Bumblebee action figures.  Nevertheless, this would make a great addition for fans who already have Deluxe Bumblebees but would welcome a different transformation process.  It’s also a nice starter Deluxe Bumblebee action figure for fans who don’t have him yet!

Quite a few collectors have also done detailed video reviews of the recently released ROTF Deluxe Preview Bumblebee action figure and here’s one of them.  The reviewers also included comparisons with the various Deluxe Bumblebee action figures from the first Transformers Movie.

A similar detailed video review for ROTF Deluxe Preview Soundwave action figure can be viewed at this previous blog post.  The Preview wave of ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures are already released (since 15 May 2009) at the departmental stores in Singapore at SGD 27.90 each.

If you are keen to get them, they are selling out fast within a week of their release!  The official release date for the rest of the ROFT toys is 30 May 2009.  I’m pretty sure we will spend the rest of the year being ‘bombarded’ by waves after waves of ROTF toys, like for the first Transformers movie in 2007.  It will be another Transformers action-filled year ahead for kids and fans!

Ninja Pony’s ROTF report

Ninja Pony's toy report.

Ninja Pony came back from the departmental stores today with the latest sales report of the recent Preview wave of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Movie toys - Deluxe Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures

Many of the departmental stores that are selling them have seen good sales of both Bumblebee and Soundwave, since they were released here last Friday.  Some of them even have their display pegs nearly depleted of the ever popular Autobot Bumblebee and Decepticon Soundwave!

1 week before.

ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures left in a store.

1 week after.

The above photos show the popularity of the Preview ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee and Soundwave figures. There were only 6 figures left at this departmental store in Orchard Road.  When I saw this place last Friday, the pegs were all ‘bulging’ with both figures, with each peg row filled up to 5 or 6 figures ‘deep’!

It looks like the shoppers have struck with a ‘vengence’ over the weekend, as if to make up for the Bumblebee ‘drought’ that they had to put up for so long, since the first Transformers movie in 2007!  “Revenge” is coming indeed…

Anyway, it’s great that sales of the Preview ROTF toys are getting off with a good start.  Then there will be shelf space for the subsequent waves of ROTF toys!  Ninja Pony’s report ends here for now.  Come back again to check out her latest toy reports!

ROTF Deluxe Preview Soundwave action figure review

As Preview ROTF Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures are already out in the departmental stores in some parts of the world, including here in Singapore, some collectors have bought and reviewed these toys on YouTube.  Here’s the video review for Soundwave, a new character in the upcoming Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Movie!

I don’t know this character well and I don’t have him in my collection.  So such video reviews are useful in giving insights of what you are getting if you buy this toy.  Judging from his movie role that I read online, I think Soundwave would be quite an impressive character in the ROTF movie.

I’ll be posting the video toy review for the ROTF Deluxe Shoulder Cannon Bumblebee action figure soon!

Quite a few collectors have already done detailed video reviews of the latest ROTF Deluxe Preview Bumblebee action figure and here’s one of them.  The reviewer also included a comparison with the Premium series Deluxe Bumblebee action figure from the first Transformers Movie.

There’s also another upcoming version of ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee action figure with shoulder cannons.  I’ll put up that video review soon!

Ninja Pony’s toy reports…

Ninja Pony's toy report.

I sent Ninja Pony to check out the local toy scenes today.  She reported back with more sightings of the recent nationwide store releases of the upcoming Transformers ROTF Movie toys - Deluxe Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures!

However as usual, most shoppers, except for some kids and the more hardcore Transformers toy collectors, didn’t really notice them there.  The local masses have this habit of only wanting to get movie-related toys after they have seen the movie in the cinemas.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine toys, plus Wolverine and the X-Men toys.

It happened for the recent Wolverine movie toys and ongoing Wolverine cartoon toys.  Now some people tell me certain character figures of these 2 Wolverine toylines are hard to find.  Of course they are, I got mine way before their shows were shown!

ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures.

Here we have today’s sighting of the ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures found at a sub-urban departmental here.  This photo shows only 8 out of the 15 peg rows of these 2 toys there, with each peg row filled up to 4 figures ‘deep’.

Observed at a store.

Ninja Pony also spotted this appalling sight.  Some people just don’t have store etiquette.  Look at this mess at the model cars section of the same departmental store.  It’s really sad to see such a scene.  Was it done by kids or adults?

Observed at a store.

The Bakugan section of the same store looks like it hosted a mini typhoon.  It must be tedious working at the toy section of a departmental store.  The ladies’ clothes and shoes sections can sometimes look like this too, especially during a sale.  So can we blame the kids?  Adults do it too, so the kids learn such undesirable habits from them.  It’s really disheartening to note that our society’s public behaviour is deteriorating so rapidly…

Anyway, it’s end of the report by Ninja Pony !  She’ll be out on her rounds again sometime this week.  Come back again to check out her latest toy reports!

Newest My Little Pony sightings and updates

My Little Pony: Large Ponyville - Super Long Hair Rainbow Dash.

Besides spotting the first wave of ROTF Transformers toys in our local departmental stores yesterday, I also came across new My Little Pony toys there as well!  We finally have the “Large Ponyville figures” on our shores!  First I saw Super Long Hair Rainbow Dash (above) and she retails at SGD 19.90.

My Little Pony: Large Ponyville - Core 7 pony characters.

Then I turned a corner to the other side of the same shelf and found all the Core 7 My Little Pony characters as single pack Large Ponyville figures!  They are priced at SGD 10.90 each, with Sweetie Belle the white unicorn being a bit smaller than the rest because she is supposedly the youngest pony in the lot.  She comes with a larger brush to make up for the lesser plastic volume in the pony..

My Little Pony: Large Ponyville - Starsong.

This one’s my favourite of the lot.  I like Starsong’s colors and being a pegasus pony, she has wings on her back.  Hence you get a little more value for your money because of the extra plastic wings!  I also like the simple packaging for this series of “G4 My Little Pony” toys because it’s only slightly bigger than the pony itself.  I appreciate the ‘honesty’ as it does not attempt to make the toy seem bigger than it really is.  Plus there is lesser wastage of resources on excess packaging, which will eventually be discarded by consumers.

ROTF Transformers toys are released in Singapore!

3, 2, 1, Go!!  The ‘race’ has started and it’s the moment that all Transformers fans here have been waiting for - the arrival of the Transformers movie sequel (Revenge of the Fallen aka ROTF) toys at our local departmental stores!  They are out 2 weeks earlier than the local official release date!

Transformers Movie Sequel ROTF Deluxe action figures.

However a male customer was overheard remarking to a store personnel why ”ONLY 2 characters” are available.  Hey, at least we’re getting 2 popular characters 2 weeks in advance of the official date.  It sure beats waiting the next 2 weeks with no ROTF toys at all, right?  We should be thankful, and it will be easier on our wallets too if the toys come out more gradually!

ROTF Transformers movie Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures.

Here we have the 2 ‘heralds’ of the ROTF Transformers movie toys - Decepticon Soundwave, a new movie character, and everyone’s favourite Autobot Bumblebee!  Their retail price is SGD 27.90 each (except TRU charges 5 cents more).  These 2 Deluxe action figures have been spotted at most departmental stores along Orchard Road (hint: head for those departmental stores that you know have very large toy sections).

ROTF Transformers movie Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures.

This photo was taken at 1 of the many stores that had them.  They were put out on the pegs last night and today.  According to a store promoter, these 2 toys sold out very quickly in overseas markets.  Hence they are released first here, where hopefully they will sell out quickly to clear the shelf and storeroom space for the subsequent waves of ROTF Transformers toys.

So if you have been waiting eagerly to get these ROTF figures, go and grab them now!  Altogether I saw at least 100 pieces of each character in the various departmental stores in Orchard Road today, so there should be more than enough for everyone this weekend.  The store promoter I spoke to said they have more of these stocks in their storeroom too!

ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee action figure.

“By the Power of Graysku…..!!” (oops, incorrect quote from another cartoon series and toyline!  I couldn’t help it!)

I had a voucher for one of the stores, hence I decided to finally get 1 ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee action figure today and topped up with some cash.  He’s my first Transformers Movie Deluxe action figure, as I missed out on the earlier version from the first Transformers movie.  He looks so cool in robot mode, but it was ‘hell’ getting him into the car mode.

I can’t take a decent photo of my ROTF Deluxe Bumblebee in his car mode yet since I haven’t managed to ‘transform’ him properly into a car with no jutting edges.  I’ll need more practice.  The packaging says this toy is suitable for ages 5 and above.  It really makes me feel bad, but I don’t want to break my new toy, after all I got it with hard earned money!

Anyway if you are free this weekend, go and take a look at the newly arrived ROTF Bumblebee and Soundwave action figures in the departmental stores!

A friend looking to buy loose Transformers toys

Bumblebee (clear yellow Scanning version, free pack-in figure available with August 2007 edition of Hyper Hobby magazine)

I know a friend who’s looking to buy loose Transformers toys for his own collection.  As he works long hours and usually on weekends, he can’t visit the Sunday Toy Market at China Square Central.  Hence he asks if there are other local places and sellers to buy from.  He’s especially interested in the Constructicons, Energon / Superlink and Mega Zarak.

Any info on loose Transformers for sale is most welcome.  For sellers, please email your contact details, plus shop address or website links to me via my Contact Me page.  I’ll then provide my friend’s contact details for you both to follow up with each other.  Thank you for your help!

Transformers ROTF Bumblebee and Sam action figures

I’ve been considering getting a Deluxe action figure of Movie Transformers Bumblebee for a long while.  I like his modern Chevrolet Camaro look in the movie but I didn’t get the first version Deluxe action figure that came out in the stores in 2007 and 2008.

Transformers Movie Sequel: Revenge of the Fallen action figures - Bumblebee with Sam.

Now with the Transformers movie sequel - Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) coming to cinemas next month, photos of the upcoming waves of Transformers toys are available online and I have my eyes on this set!  It has Bumblebee together with Sam, and Sam can also sit inside the car!  Plus Bumblebee can still transform between his robot and car modes, though the transformation process will differ a little from the first version Deluxe Bumblebee action figure.

However this new Bumblebee action figure is likely to be larger than the Deluxe class Transformers ones, unless Sam is very tiny.  Hence I wonder how much it will cost at retail, and whether this set will eventually be out in the departmental stores here.  If only the set also includes a Mikaela action figure!  Then she and Sam can both go out on dates, while Bumblebee ‘blends’ into the background as a normal inconspicuous car, like at the ending scene of the first Transformers movie!  That would have been so cool!

Brief respite during toy hunting season

After many weeks of intense toy hunting and acquisitions that burned holes in my monthly ‘Play’ funds, there is now an intermission period where there aren’t any toys of interest to me in the stores.  It’s great for my wallet, but bad for my very hyped-up emotions of wanting more of the toys that I collect!

X-Men Orgins: Wolverine - Blog and Sabretooth action figures.

My next X-Men action figures acquisitions: Blob and Sabretooth!  I’m waiting for this pair to hit the retail stores here.  They have not been spotted in the US and other countries yet.  I wonder how much they will cost when they finally arrive on our shores?  I want that long-haired Sabretooth figure while I’ll probably kick out the Blob figure (he’s hideous!) from my collection.  Such an odd pairing anyway.

X-Men Orgins: Wolverine - Blog and Sabretooth action figures - MOC.

I’m currently feeling a bit of withdrawal symptoms from not finding new toys in the stores.  It’s quite uncomfortable.  Fortunately, I can use my work to keep me from thinking too much about new toys.  But I can’t work all the time, so I look forward to this current mini ‘toy drought’ period ending soon for me!
