TFA Voyager Earth Optimus Prime toy review

Transformers Animated (TFA) Voyager Earth Optimus Prime

Even though I do not watch the Transformers Animated series, I’m quite fond of this particular (TFA) Optimus Prime when I first laid eyes on him some time ago.  In vehicle mode, he resembles  a “baby toy”, you know the chunky kind for toddlers to play with.  In robot mode, his overall physique looks way more proportionate than on screen!

TFA Voyager Optimus Prime is very popular with the kids here too, after all he’s a key character in the world of Transformers.  I’ve seen how the little local kids get excited when a Coplay version of TFA Optimus Prime goes on stage to entertain them in the shopping malls.

How about you?  Do you like this version of Optimus Prime too?  Feel free to share your comments here!

USA Burger King ROTF Movie toys review

These are the Burger King (BK) toys for Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) that were available in the USA and other countries (but not in Singapore) during the ROTF movie cinema screenings from June to July this year.  I like the Bumblebee toy from the above USA BK ROTF toys set!  The Optimus Prime toy makes a good display piece, even though he’s not poseable.  For very young kids, these BK ROTF toys make a cheaper option to re-create their favourite ROTF movie scenes, without having to buy the dearer Hasbro toys at retail!

The USA BK ROTF toys set features more relevant ROTF movie characters like Soundwave, Arcee, The Fallen, a hint of Jetfire and also Devastator!  There were 8 of them in the set, while our local “transforming” versions from Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) had only 4 in the set.  Our local KFC ROTF toys set consists of ”transforming” Ironhide, Starscream, Bumblebee and Optimus Prime (released weekly in this order).  The KFC ROTF toys were more suited released for the 2007 Transformers The Movie (TFTM) than the 2009 ROTF movie!

Note: If you are keen to get the USA BK, or local KFC ROTF toys, you can check out ebay!  Happy ROTF  toy hunting!

ROTF Voyager Jungle Attack Ironhide toy review

ROTF Jungle Attack Voyager Ironhide toy review video

Have you seen online photos of this upcoming Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Voyager Jungle Attack Ironhide?  The response from fans and collectors have been mixed, and you’ll know why upon seeing the actual toy.

This ROTF Jungle Attack Ironhide has bold white stripes splashed across its vehicle body and he also comes with more weapons.  In robot mode, he looks quite good with more contrasting color schemes.  Personally I still prefer the all black 2007 version from Transformers The Movie (TFTM).  That one is simpler and has more movie accurate colors.

The volume of the above video toy review on this toy is a bit soft, so you’ll need to increase the volume on your PC or laptop to hear the commentary.  I also like the background picture used, while the soft white surface used to present the toy kinda creates a “snowy” feel to the scene!

Wolverine movie action figures - wave 4 rev 1

Wolverine movie action figures - wave 4 rev 1.

Wolverine movie action figures - wave 4 revision (rev) 1

The “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” toys can still be found in our local departmental stores, even though the movie had been over for a long while now (screened in our local cinemas in May 2009).

Waves 1 & 2 are already on clearance sale at some departmental stores here at SGD 10.00 for any 2 figures, or at SGD 5.00 per figure (policy varies from store to store, & with limited variety to choose from).  As for Wave 3, it did not make it to our shores.  As such, there is no confirmation that wave 4 (below) come here too.

However, there might still be a chance that the later waves of this toyline could become available at our local departmental stores.  If yes, then fans and collectors who are still keen on these figures will be elated to know that Sabretooth (black coat), Cyclops, Iceman, Wolverine (yellow, unmasked) and Colossus are in wave 4 rev 1 (above).  So keep your fingers crossed that you’ll get to grab your favourite Marvel characters at a discount!  Happy toy hunting!

G.I.Joe Movie Mobile Pit Headquarters Playset on discount

G.I.Joe Movie Mobile Pit Headquarters Playset.

G.I.Joe Movie Mobile Pit Headquarters Playset

I dropped by Toys “R” Us (TRU) yesterday and saw this G.I.Joe Movie Mobile Pit Playset on discount there.  If I remember correctly, the usual price for this huge playset is a hefty SGD 259.90.  At TRU, it has now been marked down to SGD 139.90.  It also comes with 2 x FREE 3.75-inch G.I.Joe Movie action figures (worth SGD 18.90 each).

However (before you start cheering) according to the sign I read there, the 2 free action figures have specific serial numbers, hence I believe they are 2 of the less popular peg-warming figures.  If you are keen on this playset, you can consider getting it, though somehow I expect the price to be further reduced in the coming weeks and months.

Note: I DO NOT sell this toy.  I’m only blogging about my observations on this toy at retail here in Singapore.

ROTF Gathering At The Nemesis box set in Singapore!

ROTF Deluxe Soundwave action figure repaint. For fans and collectors who are keen to collect this blue repaint of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Deluxe Soundwave action figure, he has been seen selling at our local Toy ‘R’ Us (TRU) outlets for some weeks already.

Blue Soundwave comes with a dull grey repaint of Transformers The Movie (TFTM) Voyager Megatron, and ROTF Voyager The Fallen.  The price for this box set of 3 is SGD 119.90.  See more detailed online photos here!

As this ROTF box set is treated like a controlled item, it is displayed at the locked glass cabinets.  There will be a number label placed in front or beside the display box set.  If you wish to buy it, you’ll need to take a matching number label placed on top of the display cabinet to make your payment at the cashier first.

After payment, the staff will bring out a new piece from the storeroom for you.  I hear that this method is used to prevent such “collector’s items” packaging from being damaged by little kids, malicous adults and careless shoppers.  I think this item is still available at most TRU outlets.  Go check it out if you are interested and Happy ROTF toys shopping!

Exclusive ROTF Legends Bumblebee action figures

ROTF Legends Bumblebee action figures - clear & stealth variants.

From left: Clear & Stealth Exclusive ROTF Legends Bumblebees.

This looks like a week devoted to Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) movie Bumblebee, as one after another of my recent blogs posts are dedicated to something about its toy.  Here we have news of some more exclusive ROTF Legends Bumblebee action figures that will come packaged with the Japanese version of the ROTF DVD & Blu-Ray.  I like the above 2 cute little ROTF Legends Bumblebees and I hope to acquire them some day!

There are also other Japanese exclusive ROTF toys to be released, such as a black version of ROTF Leader Optimus Prime, and ROTF Deluxe Skids and Mudflap coated in desert dirt!  Basically, all of these so-called Japanese exclusive ROTF toys are repaints of existing ROTF toys that have already been released.  But somehow Hasbro has managed to re-package them in such a way that many fans and collectors find these appealing enough to collect.  This is what some collectors refer to as “too deeply poisoned” by an unexplainable need to collect even more variant ROTF toys!

Preview of more ROTF toys & repaints!

ROTF Cannon Bumblebee action figure with masked head.

Yes!  I knew that the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) toyline will have a Deluxe Bumblebee action figure with the masked head sooner or later!  He will indeed be released as a slight repaint of Deluxe Cannon Bumblebee!  (The red color on the cannons gives the impression that there is blood on them, LOL!)

You can view the photos of all the upcoming ROTF toys and their repaints (this is so typical of Hasbro) at this link here!  I look forward to seeing the above repaint of ROTF Deluxe Cannon Bumblebee in the stores soon!  (If only Hasbro decided to release a Stealth repaint of Deluxe Cannon Bumblebee with the yellow masked head, just like they did with Transformers The Movie aka TFTM Deluxe Stealth Bumblebee!)

ROTF “War for the Skies” Legends 4-pack action figures

ROTF Legends action figures - War for the Skies 5-pack.

Tranformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) “War for the Skies”

From left to right: Thundercracker (Starscream repaint), Jetfire, Autobot Blades (Autobot Springer repaint) & Spinister (Blackout repaint)

A big thanks to Bany who spotted this box set of ROTF Legends box set at a store called Toy Kingdom in the Philippines!  In the US, this is a K-Mart exclusive

Hasbro has done it again with the “repaint” strategy on its toys.  Like the ROTF “Straightaway Shootout” box set, the names of the 5 Legends figures are randomly printed on the bottom front of the box, and do not coincide with the positions of the toys packaged in the box itself.  Hence it can be quite confusing for buyers who are not familiar with all these characters.

Since 3 of these figures are non-movie characters while Jetfire is not in his movie colors, I’ll skip this box set.  If this is sold in Singapore eventually, I guess its retail price shouldn’t be more than SGD 39.90, which is the retail price for the ROTF “Straightaway Shootout” box set.  Happy ROTF toy hunting!
