Transformers toys display in ION Orchard

ROTF Cannon Bumblebee action figure.

Have you been to the new shopping mall called ION Orchard in Singapore?  In addition to 4 above ground levels of shops, there are also up to 4 basement levels of shop space underground!  Level 5 and above are the carparks.

All the way down at level B4 near the escalator, there is an enormous DVD store called Titanium where if you go all the way deep inside, you’ll find a nice display of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) toys, Henkei Transformers toys and other popular collectible toys in the glass showcases!  They also sell the toys they display there, but at a premium, and while stocks last.  The ROTF and Henkei Deluxe action figures cost close to SGD 35.00 each.

Nevertheless, the display of toys are still enjoyable to marvel at!  You can also shop around for the scores of DVDs titles at massive marked down prices in the store.  Do drop by ION Orchard soon, and happy shopping!

I bet this special Bumblebee DVD case for the “Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen” (ROTF) movie is gonna cost quite a sum.  You can view its promo video here.

If you are a die-hard ROTF movie fan or a movie Bumblebee fan, you might be interested in this DVD packaging.  The Optimus Prime version for Transformers The Movie (TFTM) can still be found at some HMV outlets in Singapore.

For fans of ROTF Optimus Prime, he will be part of a hologram gimmick DVD.  Both of these ROTF movie DVD packaging are expected to be in major DVD stores by the end of this year.  Happy waiting for them!

ROTF “Straightaway Shootout” Legends 5-Pack action figures

ROTF Legends action figures - 5 Pack box set.

This Target exclusive Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) “Straightaway Shootout” Legends 5-Pack has been spotted at a departmental store (OG) this week!  It retails for SGD 39.90 per box.  The box set contains:

- Ironhide (dark grey repaint of TFTM* version),

- Swerve (red repaint of ROTF Sideswipe),

- Mudflap (slight duller shade than the ROTF single pack version),

- Runamuck (white repaint of Jazz from TFTM*) &

- Sparkcrusher (repaint of Transformers Universe Warpath).

*TFTM = Transformers the Movie

One thing to note is that the names of the 5 Legends figures are randomly printed on the bottom front of the box, and do not coincide with the positions of the toys packaged in the box itself.

Hence it can be quite confusing for buyers who are not familiar with all these characters.  For me, I had to turn the box around to confirm which ones are Runamuck and Sparkcrusher!

Currently, there’s a 10% discount on “Straightaway Shootout” and other ROTF toys if you have the OG card.  If you don’t have the OG card, you can just top up your purchases to a minimum of SGD 75.00 on the same day during this month (Sep 2009) to get your free OG card on the spot!  Read more details about getting a 2009 OG card here!

ROTF DVD & Blu-ray “Augmented Reality”

Come October 2009 (date not officially confirmed yet), fans and collectors all over the world can start to lay their hands on the highly anticipated Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) DVD and Blu-Ray!

Like what was available in Transformers The Movie (TFTM), the ROTF movie will be released in 1-Disc, 2-Disc and Blu-Ray versions.  And like TFTM, some of the ROTF movie packaging will have unique features.

For TFTM, 1 of the packaging version came in an Optimus Prime DVD case that you could open up to ‘transform’ Optimus Prime into ‘robot’ mode.  (This version was sighted selling at our local HMV store during the ROTF movie screening)

For the ROTF movie, there will be similar version and this time the ‘transforming’ DVD case is Bumblebee!

Then with the advancement of modern technology, the latest ROTF movie packaging will feature the following:

“The Blu-Ray and 2-Disc DVD Pacakges also will feature augmented reality technology that will allow owners to interact with a holographic image of OPTIMUS PRIME utilizing their webcams and a special website.  Fans will be asked to piece together the Matrix of Leadership to bring OPTIMUS PRIME back to life, help repair his armor and calibrate his weapons by actually controlling his aim during target practice.”

ROTF DVD & Blu-ray - Hologram features.Street date: October 20, 2009
Runtime: 142 minutes
Pricing:
USD 19.99 (Single-disc DVD)
USD 24.99 (Two-disc DVD)
USD 29.99 (Two-disc Blu-ray)

I plan to buy the ROTF movie DVD many months later when the price is reduced, LOL!  I have the 2-Disc normal DVD packaging version for TFTM, hence I’ll probably get a similar version for ROTF movie.  October 2009 is just next month, hence the ROTF DVDs and Blu-Rays are coming soon!  Happy waiting for them!

ROTF Deluxe action figures - wave 7

ROTF Deluxe action figures - wave 7.

Deluxe Class - Wave 7 (SGD 27.90 each):

 From left: Gears & Thrust

——–

This next wave of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Deluxe action figures is expected to arrive at our local departmental stores sometime this month.  The new characters are Gears and Thrust, and they were not featured in the ROTF movie.

Instead, they could be characters in the ROTF game and comics.  I will need confirmation on that.  Only the hardcore ROTF fans will know them.  Perhaps because these 2 are non-movie characters, they might not be as popular as the movie cast Deluxe figures before them.

Gears is a repaint of Transformers The Movie (TFTM) Deluxe Stockade (the black Sector 7 vehicle model which that irritating Agent Simmons rode in TFTM).  Though I like the black colors of Stockade, which makes the Sector 7 vehicles look more mysterious, I’d still like to see the lighter colors that Gears come in.

Thrust is a repaint of ROTF Breakaway from wave 2.  The mold looks exactly the same.  I can’t tell if Thrust has a new head mold, and same for Gears.  I’ll also like to see the new colors in person before commenting further.  The photo above is not so clear in the color details of both these figures.

If you are still in the midst of completing your ROTF toys collections, Happy toy hunting to you!  For me, I’m more of an observer now, LOL!

ROTF Legends action figures - wave 4

Legends Class - Wave 4 (SGD 11.90 each):

Top Row - Megatron, Optimus Prime, Mudflap & The Fallen.

Bottom Row - Sideways, Recon Bumblebee, Skids & Tankor.

 ——–

The next wave of Transformers movie - Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Legends action figures are in town now!  They have been spotted at our local departmental for a few weeks already.

The new characters consist of Skids, Sideways, & Tankor; while Recon Bumblebee is a slight repaint of ROTF Legends Bumblebee from the eariler waves.  Megatron, Optimus Prime, Mudflap & The Fallen are repeated unchanged characters from the earlier ROTF Legends waves too.

Skids looks almost like Mudflap, except that he has a bigger right arm, compared to Mudflap who has a bigger left arm.  Sideways is a little too dark grey in color.  I had expected him to more silver than grey.  Some fans and collectors find that Sideways’ robot mode resembles that of Barricade.  Tankor is a light blue repaint of Brawl (green color) from Transformers The Movie (TFTM).  I think Tankor could be a character in the ROTF game or comics as he sells out quite fast too.

For the popularity race, Skids should lead, followed closely by Sideways and Tankor.  In some stores, only Recon Bumblebee are left, an indication that Wave 4 had arrived but the 3 popular figures sold out quickly.  And that’s it for this post, happy ROTF toy hunting!

Wolverine movie deluxe action figures - waves 1 & 2

Top row (from left): Sabretooth w/Blob Launcher; Logan w/Motorbike.

Middle row (from left): Weapon X w/Stasis Chamber; Deadpool w/Missile Cannon.

Bottom row: Wolverine w/Colossus.

I spotted these 2 waves of Wolverine movie deluxe action figures at a booth, during the recent Singapore Toy, Games & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2009.  I didn’t ask the price but I presumed they were parallel imports.

Like the waves 3 & 4 of the single pack 3.75-inch Wolverine movie action figures, I doubt these will make it to our local retailers too due to poor overall sales of waves 1 & 2.   (Waves 1 & 2 are already on clearance sale at some departmental stores here at SGD 10.00 for any 2 figures, limited variety to choose from of course!).

Nevertheless, if you are interested in these Wolverine movie deluxe action figures, we can hope for the best that some might eventually be brought in from the regional warehouses for the year end clearance sales!  Happy toy hunting!

Wolverine movie action figures - wave 3

The movie “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” had been over for a long while now (screened in our local cinemas in May 2009) but its toyline can still be found in our departmental stores.  Waves 1 & 2 of its 3.75-inch action figures are still available, but due to their poor overall sales, the subsequent wave 3 (above) did not make it to our shores.  As such, I don’t expect to see wave 4 (below) come here either.

Even if these 2 later waves of Wolverine movie action figures do eventually reach the departmental stores here, they might be marked down because Hasbro would need to clear its warehouse space for the new toylines of 2010.  Hence keep a lookout for such a possible sale anytime soon as we approach the 4th quarter of 2009!  (Waves 1 & 2 are already on clearance sale at some departmental stores here at SGD 10.00 for any 2 figures, limited variety to choose from of course!).  Happy toy hunting!

“Devastator Devastation” stop motion video

Talk about loving your Transformers toys to the max.  Here’s an interesting stop motion video for you to enjoy.  It must have taken hours to do this!  I’m no where that dedicated, but I’m glad others are.  This video is really awesome, though I took more notice of the lush greenery, nice pond with koi swimming in it, and the big house in the background!  These toys are so lucky to have such a huge space to roam about, LOL!

P.S. I felt so sad for the EZ Devastator that was dropped in pieces from a height onto the hard ground, considering how difficult it is to get this set of toys.  I hope they turned out unharmed from the ordeal!
