What are the “movie accurate” colors of War Machine’s eyes and arc light colors?

Hasbro 3.75-inch Iron Man 2 movie War Machine action figure.

The Iron Man 2 movie sequel screens in Singapore cinemas from today.  I’ll probably be able to watch it only next week.

Around 2 weeks ago, I blogged about the variant colors occuring in Hasbro’s 3.75-inch War Machine action figures (Iron Man 2 movie toyline).  If you have watched it already, can you confirm what are movie accurate colors of War Machine’s eyes and arc light?

So far the promotional movie posters I see everywhere show the colors as red.  So are they also red in color in the movie?  Do let me know at my comments section of this blog post.  I’m rather curious to know!

Join Ninja Pony in “The Kungfu Beat”!

“The Kungfu Beat” from Disney Channel Asia is Ninja Pony’s current favourite “hit” song.  She can’t stop singing and humming it all day long since she learnt the song lyrics!  Though I can’t embed the music video on this blog (not allowed by YouTube and Disney), you can view it directly on YouTube.  The song lyrics are provided below, enjoy!

SDCC 2008 Exclusive Ninja My Little Pony.

“The Kungfu Beat” song lyrics:

I can do kungfu,
Do the moves I do!
(Kick Ha! Hoo Ha! Hit Ha! Hoo Ha!)

I can play the master,
I’m the master blaster!
(Kick Ha! Hoo Ha! Hit Ha! Hoo Ha!)

Can you do it faster?
How long can you last here?
(Kick Ha! Hoo Ha!)

Chorus: [ Enter to the land of the rising sun,
Asia is the place where it all begun.
Look at all the fighters and the medals they’ve won...on,
Come and make karate fun...un!
Everybody kick to the kung fu beat!
Who will be the master?
Who will take the lead?
Everybody kick to the kung fu beat!
Who will be the master in the street? ]

[ Who will be the master?
Who will be the master in the street? ]

I can kick it high and low,
You can come and watch the show.
This is what I’ve learned to do,
You can also do kung fu!
If this is where you wanna be with me!

Who are you really buying toys for?

Marvel Universe Union Jack Action Figure. What I mean is that are the toys you buy mostly for yourself (a secretive toy collector), or really for your kids (or nephews & nieces etc.), as you proclaim to the store personnel?

Till today, toy collecting by adults is still not widely recognised as a “normal” hobby by many non-toy collecting laymen.  Hence there are adult toy collectors who get so fed up with hearing unkind comments about their toy interests, that they prefer to be “low profile” in their toy collecting hobby.

It’s a bit better when they buy toys from collector’s toy shops.  But sometimes when they buy toys from departmental stores, they just casually mention to the store personnel that the toys are meant for their kids, so as to avoid stares or whatever they don’t wish to encounter from the staff.

It was actually worse off if you had started collecting toys more than 10 years.  Today in most departmental stores, the situation has improved but the “stigma” still lingers around like a restless ghost.  I can sense that some departmental store personnel dislike toy collectors.  Maybe there had been unpleasant encounters with them before.

I know that in the course of this “highly addictive” toy collecting hobby, emotions can get out of control when some collectors are told too flatly toy the store personnel that the toys they wanted to buy are out of stock or whatever.  The laymen staff at the store won’t really comprehend what’s the fuss about a children’s toy that an adult wants to buy for him or herself.

Hopefully the staff do realise that not all toy collectors are that ”emotional” and that they can be pleasant people too!  Happy toy collecting!

Memories of LEGO Alpha Team and Agents toys sets

I cannot recall much about the LEGO Alpha Team as I was more into collecting the LEGO Knights series back then, so I kind of ignored nearly all the other LEGO series advertised in the yearly LEGO catalogs.  Then came the LEGO Agents series (view from 2.51min of video onwards) a few years ago and I recall seeing their commercials airing in a loop on a tv at a local departmental store.  The commercial was rather loud and it had lots of action sounds and scenes featuring the LEGO Agents ”in action”.

For some reason, I like LEGO Agents a lot even though I did not collect them when both series 1 and 2 were out on the mass retail shelves.  Then as the last of the 2nd series LEGO Agents 2.0 box sets started to clear off the shelves of departmental stores at the beginning of this year, I started to miss them.  I’m not sure if the LEGO Agents series were popular with LEGO collectors but there are lots of video reviews about them made and posted by kids on YouTube.  So I guess they are more popular with younger fans.

Locally, I know some LEGO collectors have the LEGO Agents Mobile Command Centre as it not only looks cool, but also comes with the entire LEGO Agents team and the main villains.  I like the new grey armour worn by most of the male LEGO Agents in series 2.  Somehow these LEGO Agents remind me of modern day LEGO Knights fighting supervillains, using not only fighting skills and wit, but also super technology!

Here’s to the fond recent memories that the LEGO Agents gave me, even though their shelf life is nearly over!

Marvel Universe Comic Packs action figures - wave 6

Marvel Universe Comic Packs action figures - wave .

Marvel Universe Comic Packs action figures - wave 6

Hmmm, I can’t see what’s new in this wave.  If they call it wave 6 and not a revised wave, then there must be new comic pack pairs but I don’t see which are the ones.  Anyway, the repeated pairs here are mostly the recent new pairs and popular figures.  So I believe they will still sell well.  Happy waiting for these toys to arrive in SIngapore!

Here’s an update of the equally never ending Marvel Universe Comic Packs action figures.  The new pairs are Dark Phoenix & Cyclops, and Wolverine & Spiderman (Dark Reign).  The rest are repeated pairs from the earlier waves.  This wave is scheduled for worldwide retail release from June 2010.  Happy waiting for these toys to come to Singapore!

Top row (from left): Iron Patriot, Captain America (Ultimate), Skrull Soldier & Modern Thor.

Bottom row (from left): Iron Man (Classic), Iron Spider-Man, Winter Soldier, Wrecker Mary Jane (w/Ms Lion)

The toy photos for wave 9 of the Marvel Universe toyline are available online now!  Here we have more new Marvel characters added to the never ending line up!  The Mary Jane figure looks disappointing but Ms Lion her dog looks the part!  This wave is estimated to go on sale worldwide from August 2010.  Currently in Singapore, we have up to wave 7 on sale at mass retail here.

Happy toys collecting!

Kick-Ass and Hit Girl Action Figures

Kick-Ass and Hit Girl Action Figures.

Kick-Ass and Hit Girl 6-Inch Action Figures

I saw the movie “Kick Ass” and I must say that as a lead character, Kick Ass (acted by Aaron Johnson) definitely gets overshadowed by the superb agility and fighting  prowess of the supporting character called Hit Girl (acted by Chloe Moretz).  For people who have seen this movie, they will mostly agree that the child actress portraying Hit Girl shone out brightly during her action scenes.  Kids these days are just getting more and more talented!

And to top is all for the toy collectors, there are action figures of these 2 movie characters made and scheduled for sale online from September - October 2010!  Looking at the above photos of these toys, I don’t think we can get much articulation out of them.  They will fair better as display pieces with limited poses.  If there will be a movie sequel or a spin off movie featuring Hit Girl, hopefully we can expect action figures with more articulation.  Till then, happy waiting for these toys!

Note: The movie “Kick Ass” contains some vulgar language and violent scenes that are not suited for viewing by audience below age 18 in Singapore.  Too bad for them!  It sure rocks to be an adult!
