Toy Carnival at SAM 2010!

Toy Carnival at SAM 2010 banner.

The Toy Carnival at the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) is back again this year, and it’s happening soon on this coming Sunday!  Wow, I just saw the posting on their blog and I feel rather excited about it!  But at the same time I also wonder if I should visit this one.

You see, I have just done 2 rounds of clutter clearing at home and there are still some more to clear out.  If I go to the Toy Carnival this weekend even just to have a feel of the atmosphere, I might cave in to the overwhelming temptation of good deals there and buy some more new toys on impulse or otherwise!  When I was there in the year when they first had this event at SAM, I bought quite a bit of toys on that trip.  Hence, it’s quite a dilemma for me now, to go or not to go…

To the die hard toy collectors, I think you are all mostly going there this Sunday, after all Sunday is the toy hunting day for many local toy collectors.  If they aren’t at this Toy Carnival or at the upcoming Singapore Toy, Game and Comic Convention (STGCC) that is taking place in the week after, they will still be at the weekly Toy Market at China Square Central on every Sunday!  See I know because I also think like them, LOL!  Anyway, if you plan to go for the Toy Carnival and the STGCC (both taking place this month), happy toys shopping to you!

Leon of Open The Toy also blogged about this event. You read more on this blog!

Clutter clearing update

Strangeco item.

My clutter clearing today went according to plan and I managed to gather 3 bags full of unwanted paper and other stuff for recycling or throwing away.  It feels good to spend my weekend this way.  I felt a kind of relief that some stuck energy is finally going to be released, instead of stifling me in it.

I still have some more clutter to clear out tomorrow and then I plan to do some long overdue re-arranging of furniture to their rightful places.  Some furniture are currently in the unsuitable parts of the house because my mom was reluctant to let me throw out an old computer table some years ago.  It’s the type with the sloping table top that was specially designed to put the old bulky PC monitors, instead of the flatscreen PC monitors that we see everywhere today.  The highest shelf above the monitor shelf is for the printer.  Yeah I know, I still have this piece of antique furniture at home!

That old bulky desk top computer had long been recycled away but its table remained for about 4 years more because my mom kept insisting that it’s still usable.  I relented and used that table to put lots of miscellaneous items. I also specially have a large piece of custom sewn cloth to cover it from the top and all the way down to the floor because I can’t stand seeing its ‘out of place’ appearance in my room.

I’ll manage to get help to carry that obsolete ‘giant’ out of my room by next weekend.  Hopefully the neighborhood rag and bone men will want to take it.  The wooden shelves are pretty much unusable except as woodchip, but the stainless steel frame and legs will make good recyclable material.  Now I can’t wait for next weekend to come!

It’s year end clutter clearing time for me!

Paper pile.

Yes, I’m about to harden my heart and break all emotional ties I have with some of my unwanted stuff this weekend.  They shall be separated into 2 bags - to be recycled or to be thrown away.

There are some things where hardly anyone else would like to even inherit them for free, much less to sell them away to for cheap.  Hence I shall treat such clutter as food gone bad and cannot be salvaged, rather than think about how much they had cost me when they were brand new many years ago.

If new things keep coming in, older stuff have to be removed from my home to keep a balanced cycle, since I can’t stop buying new items.  And so the vicious buying and discarding cycle continues for me to the end of the year, and most likely into the new year, and the years to come, LOL!

Marvel Universe action figures - wave 12 revisions 1-7

While I normally do not post photos for revision waves of Marvel Universe and other action figures toylines, the following revisions of wave 12 for the Marvel Universe toyline contain lots of reissued figures that are worth highlighting to fans and collectors.

As many past popular figures from this toyline are quite hard to find in the departmental stores here, a lot of local collectors are unable to complete their sets or acquire the figures they want at retail price.  Hence it’s good to know that nearly all the past figures will be re-released during the coming months at mass retail once more, provided that Hasbro Singapore still continues to bring in these toys!

The revised assortments for wave 12 are shown below.  Happy waiting for them to come to the stores and when they do, get them while limited stocks for the popular pieces last!

This upcoming first wave of Transformers Reveal The Shield (RTS) toys has not been spotted in Singapore yet, but since the online photos are available, I’ve decided to blog about them here.

These figures look more retro (more based on cartoon and comics) rather than based on the live action Transformers movie toyline.  They will be attractive to the fans and collectors who are more attached to the classic Transformers and their toys.

If this wave does come to Singapore mass retail stores, their prices are likely to be under the current Transformers Deluxe toy clearance prices of 3 for SGD 50.00 or SGD 16.90 each in the departmental stores.  Happy waiting for these RTS toys!

Updated on 1 Dec 2010: The local retail price for RTS Deluxe toys is back to SGD 27.90 each!

I changed my toy lockers at Toy Outpost

My toys for sale at Toy Outpost, Plaza Singapura, 7th floor.

Just a quick update - I have changed my toy lockers at Toy Outpost (Plaza Singapoura, 7th floor) to lockers 12G & 12H.  My new shelf space is now directly opposite my previous lockers, but at one level lower.  The new lockers are shallower in shelf surface depth but with added shelf height space.

The toys for sale there are listed in this earlier blog post, whose link can be accessed easily from the side column of this blog.  My full list of toys for sale is found on my toy website, ToyzToSell.com.  Feel free to contact me if you are keen to purchase any of the toys that I’m selling!

Iron Man 2 action figures - Comic series wave 4

Iron Man 2 action figures - Comic series wave 4.

Iron Man 2 action figures - Comic series wave 4

Top row (from left):  Mandarin, Modern War Machine, Artic Armor Iron Man & Silver Centurion.

Middle row (from left): Ultimate Iron Man, Advanced Armor Iron Man, Guardsman & Red & Gold Iron Man.

Bottom row:  Modern Iron Man.

The above are the figures included in the upcoming wave 4 of the Iron Man 2 Comic series toyline.  To the laymen and casual toy collectors, the sheer astounding variety of armor that the main character Iron Man comes in, is enough to overwhelm you that it becomes confusing to differentiate some of them from the others.

You really have to read the labels on the packaging to confirm that you’re getting the right figures before you buy them.  That is provided that the figures are all packaged on their correct backcards, after all such factory errors do occur from time to time!

For me, I have had enough of this toyline after picking up a Power Up Glow Mark VI Iron Man figure and all the variants of the War Machine figures several months ago.  The rest are simply to many for me to collect, unless they are on special clearance sale, like for SGD 5.00 per piece!  Besides, I don’t have much space at home for too many of them, since this merely my side collection.

Nevertheless, this is still a great collectible for the hardcore Iron Man and Marvel toys collectors.  Happy toys collecting!
