5 innovative ways to display your toys!
Most collectors display their toys on the shelves, or store them away in boxes and cupboards. Here are 5 unusual yet more creative ways to display your toy collection:
1) Suspend ‘flying’ toys like planes, spacecraft or action figures from the ceiling or ceiling fan. Of course you need to make sure they can pass the necessary light weight test. Use your discretion too when it comes to the size limit. Secure the toys with good quality string or fishing line wire as you don’t want the toys to ‘plunge to their doom’!
2) Stick the toys or action figures that have suctionon their limbs (e.g. Spiderman figures), to glass windows or doors to re-create the image that the toy was made for, or the character was meant to be. This sure beats having them stand like boring tree trunks on the shelf.
3) Attach toys that have magnets on them to the fridge or metal cabinets (if you have these at your place, few people do actually). The early batches of G3 My Little Pony figures have a magnet under 1 hoof and many collectors enjoy sticking the ponies on their fridges. The magnets were said to be so ’strong’ that ponies have been known to cling on even though the ceiling fans were turning!
4) Recycle old badminton or tennis nets etc., by hanging them across the wall of your room. Then slot action figures and other similar toys into the net to display them on your wall instead of on the shelves only. This can free up some writing space in your room!
5) Convert your old fish tanks into landscaped display cabinets. E.g. you can create a suitable landscape and scenes by adding some ‘boulders’, ‘mountains’, ‘water scenes’, ‘trees’, ‘fields’, ‘fences’, etc., and then put in your action figures. This looks more interesting instead of having a plain boring background behind. You can also keep it simple by just using a suitable poster as the back drop.
Bonus Tip: For mini figurines like those realistic mini animal models from the Japanese Chocolate Eggs series, you can place the mini figurines with your small potted table plants to create a miniature habitat or scenery. It’s similar to those mini landscape sceneries done by Bonsai enthusiasts!
There you have it, the alternatives for you to consider when you wish to display your beloved toy collections. The main drawback about these menthods is dust. If that doesn’t bother you too much, then go ahead and let your creative juices flow!
