A ‘hurricane’ went through
Yesterday at a popular DIY furniture store, I finally found a simple yet suitable work cum study desk, to replace my outdated and bulky PC table. The 2 furniture stores that I visited in the eastern part of Singapore are rather out of the way, hence you definitely need to drive there for maximum convenience of lugging your purchased furniture home yourself (provided of course you bought smaller and more compact items that can fit into a car).
I managed to build the desk with help from my family last night and by the time we were done, the study hall where the desk is meant to be, looked like a hurricane had went through it. All my things had to be removed from my old PC table, which had some shelves and ‘levels’, to the floor. Then the old PC table was shifted out of the way to make room for my new desk to take its place.
To cut a long story short, the study hall was still ‘chaotic’ because of the many unnecessary displaced items which found themselves ‘homeless’ at this moment. The thing about having furniture with more shelves is that you will tend to find ways to fill them up with lots of unnecessary items that you hardly or never use at all. Hence my new desk has no shelves beneath, unlike my old PC table. I only placed a short mini side table under it to contain some stuff, that’s all.
I hope that this new desk can remain as clutter free as possible. I strive to place only things that I need to use on it. My toys should not come ‘wandering’ onto this desk except for photo-taking sessions. Gosh, I felt so exhausted last night from all the moving of things and cleaning of dust off the things. I’m still feeling a bit of ‘headache’ at how to ‘resettle’ all those displaced items.
This evening, I had to go shopping for mooncakes as gifts so there goes my evening to ‘resettle’ those ‘homeless’ items. I was already too tired when I reached home, much less want to re-pack my stuff and re-organise my study hall. I just had a little time to watch a bit of CNBC to hear more negative news to hit the US financial instituitions. This US credit crisis is not about to get resolved anytime soon. It means it’s also time to further tighten my toy funds in the coming months, and even next year, so as to stretch my dollars further.
