List of SDCC exclusive toys for 2010!

SDCC 2010 logo.

The annual San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) 2010 is just around the corner (22-25 July 2010), and the long awaited list of its highly anticipated SDCC 2010 exclusive toys can been seen at their official SDCC website now!

Usually I would aim for the SDCC exclusive My Little Pony, but I have acquired mine early this year when a major local retail store brought in and sort of ‘accidentally’ sold some stocks off its shelves last month.  Those ponies have since sold out, probably all scalped for resale and the store doesn’t have any more to restock.

Anyway, if you are keen on getting your hands on some of the SDCC 2010 exclusive toys, you can place your pre-orders with your respective regular local toy shops that you patronize, or get them from ebay after this month.  If you are not overly keen to have them but feel that it would be nice to collect some, you can test your luck and see if our local major departmental stores or TRU might bring them in after July.  Sometimes we do receive some leftover stocks from the SDCC after many months!

So cross your fingers, and happy toys collecting!

MOTUC She-Ra Princess of Power action figure continued

Following yesterday’s posting of the same topic, here’s my Masters of the Universe Classics (MOTUC) She-Ra action figure out of package:

“For the honor of Grayskull!”

“I am She-Raaaa!!”

The Princess of Power……

……and the leader of the Great Rebellion!

The above photos show She-Ra wearing her Filmation style crown, that is molded to her face.  This is what many She-Ra fans will remember her as, from watching the 80’s She-Ra cartoon series produced by Filmation for Mattel.

Here are some more shots of her in my toy photo studio:

The same action figure comes with another head.  This is She-Ra wearing her classic shimmering mask, as depicted in the 80’s comics and story books.

The mask can be worn the other way around her face as well.  The gold battle axe design is a special homage to the classic comb that came with the 80’s She-Ra dolls.  The same for the gold shield with the jewel design.

One final look at the Princess of Power herself.  She’s so gorgeous, both in her classic and Filmation style heads!  No regrets from me in getting her!  She will be strongly contending for my annual ““My Most Favourite Toy of the Year” award for 2010.  The results will be known at the end of December 2010.  Till then, happy toys collecting!

MOTUC She-Ra Princess of Power action figure!

Yay, the 2010 Masters of the Universe Classics (MOTUC) toyline She-Ra action figure has joined my collection at last!  I picked her up from one of the many MOTUC toy sellers in China Square Central (CSC) today and here she is, the Princess of Power herself!

She-Ra’s currently still in package and I plan to keep her that way for a while before deciding to have her break out of it some day.  Meanwhile if you are keen to see the detailed sculpting, articulation, features and accessories of this figure, her toy review is available online now:

“For the honor of Grayskull! …….I am She-Raaaa!!”

Despite the functional and sculpting flaws of this figure, I can live with them, after all She-Ra fans like me have waited for more than 20 years for a Filmation style She-Ra action figure!  When I do pop in the Filmation style head (the second one seen at the bottom of the package), I’ll probably just leave that head on her permanantly.  I’m so happy today, hurray!

Happy Mothers’ Day 2010!

My Little Pony - Mom and Baby Rainbow Dash with shopping cart.

My Little Pony - Mom and Baby Rainbow Dash with shopping cart

Today is Mothers’ Day here in Singapore.  Here we have a “homemaker” version of My Little Pony Rainbow Dash bringing her little daughter, Baby Rainbow Dash to the supermarket for grocery shopping.  Aren’t they cute?  Hasbro sure knows how to evoke the inborn motherly instinct in little girls so early in their lives, LOL!

It’s another blogging break today for me.  Here’s wishing all mothers (including Rainbow Dash above) around the world a Wonderful and Happy Mother’s Day!

McDonalds Doraemon Pig Lucky Charm Toy in Singapore!

He’s here!  He’s finally here in Singapore - the last most coveted Doraemon Pig Lucky Charm Toy from McDonalds’ Doraemon Zodiac Lucky Charm Toys set!  He was part of the toy rage here about 3 months ago.  This little piece of “pork” has been sighted at a McDonalds (McDs) outlet in Orchard Road today!

McDonalds Doraemon Pig Lucky Charm Toy.

The better news is that this time, there is no need to make any food or beverage purchase before you are entitled to buy him.  You can just buy him over the counter for SGD 2.00 each!  I believe this is a first time for McDs in Singapore that you can buy their toys over the counter outright.  In the US, you can normally buy their Happy Meal toys or other promotion toys only without having to buy any McDs items.

This little Doraemon piggy was left out of the original 12 Chinese Zodiac animal characters and substituted with a Doraemon Cupid toy by Singapore McDs in January 2010.  A lot of local collectors were not pleased and made known to Singapore McDs that they want this little porker to complete their Doraemon Zodiac Lucky Charm toys set.  It’s the “completist” collectors’ mindset, that everything they collect must be in complete sets, LOL!

Hence Singapore McDs invited its customers to vote on their website on whether to bring in the pink piggy.  The expected available date for this last member of the Doraemon Zodiac animal characters was announced as sometime in April 2010.  Now that he’s here on our shores, go and grab him while stocks last!  I’m sure he’ll sell out very fast because the price is so affordable!

You can also read LEon’s blog posts on this Doraemon porky topic at Open The Toy.

Happy collecting of Doraemon Pig Lucky Charm Toy!

“How To Train Your Dragon” McDs Happy Meal toy review - 1

Here’s the first toy review of “How To Train Your Dragon” (HTTYD) from McDonalds (McDs) Happy Meal in the US.  This piece features the main human character, Hiccup riding the main dragon character Night Fury, from the HTTYD movie.

Overall it looks like a cool toy.  If this set of McDs Happy Meal toys do not come to Singapore, you can consider getting them off US ebay in the coming weeks and months.  I’m sure there will be plenty of them there.  Till then, happy HTTYD toys admiring!
