Bburago Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV in 1:24 scale

I came across and picked up this latest addition to my 1:24 scale Lamborghini collection at 20% off during the current Metro sale!  The original retail price for the Bburago 1:24 scale model cars of the “Star Collection” series (easily identified by their red box packaging) is at SGD 24.90 each.

What impresses me the most is that this car travels almost in stealth (very quietly) along my floor, unlike the others in my collection.  Overall, this is a worthy surprise purchase for me!

Last but not least, here we have Sam and Mikaela from the Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Human Alliance (HA) toyline posing with my new yellow devil!  FYI, they can’t fit inside onto the seats, unlike with my Maisto Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 in 1:24 scale.

Mikaela: “Hey handsome, wanna join me in my new ride?”

My patience in waiting for a storewide 20% discount at OG has finally paid off, and I acquired this white color Maisto Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 in 1:24 scale from there last week!  It also represents another of my $$ damage to the current Great Singapore Sale.

The wonderful part about this latest model car that I have in hand, is that both my Sam and Mikaela action figures from the 2009 Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Human Alliance (HA) toyline, can actually fit into the seats!  They can’t do so for the other 1:24 scale Lamborghini model cars with roofs in my collection.

Although it’s still a little difficult to put them in and take them out of the car seats, Sam and Mikaela have taken my new supercar for many rides already…

And for the grand finale, Sam and Mikaela smooching on its hood, like their screen characters did on Bumblebee’s hood, in the ending scene of the 2007 Transformers The Movie (TFTM), LOL!

What an amorous couple!  I hope they don’t accidentlally scratch my precious car!

I have the Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia 1:24 scale at last!

Since my last blog post in October 2008 about wanting to add the Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia 1:24 scale model car to my collection, I had waited and waited extremely patiently for this toy to arrive “naturally” at our local departmental stores.  At long last, the first sighting showed up sometime in January 2010 at Metro Causeway Point, but the only 2 pieces there had imperfect paint jobs.

Finally, I got a piece from OG Orchard using their latest Bburago catalog.  The OG staff were very helpful in helping me secure this Lambo Polizia, which I had waited very long for.  The kind lady OG staff offered to order the model car for me when I spotted its picture in the catalog.  To my delight, the Lambo Polizia “drove” into the store within 2 weeks!  I collected it over the weekend and here are its photos.  It is the 10th Lamborghini to join my 1:24 scale model car collection!

Like my other 1:24 scale Lamborghini model cars, this 1:24 scale Lambo Polizia has painted interior details on the steering wheel, dashboard, plus additional police patrol car equipment molded inside the car!

Even the interior of the doors spot the Italian Traffic Police logo (I think this is what it is, it’s too small for me to make out the words) like on the actual car.  YouTube videos featuring the actual Lambo Polizia car can be viewed at my earlier blog post.

There is still 1 more piece of this model car at OG Orchard while I was there last weekend.  Even if it is sold out, you can approach their helpful staff at the toy department to order it for you.  Happy model car shopping!

Majorette Porsche Boxster 1:24 scale

I had been eyeing this Majorette model car for a really long time.  However the usual model car brands that I collect (Bburago, Maisto & MotorMax) do not have the 1:24 scale Porsche Boxster in silver color.  I’ve also seen the real car on our Singapore roads on countless occasions.  There’s even at least one living in my neighbourhood!

Majorette Porche Boxster 1:24 scale.

Finally I caved in and got my first Majorette model car during a sale.  The car is a few dollars cheaper than the Bburago and Maisto brands of same 1:24 scale.  At first glance, the Majorette Porsche Boxster  looks nice enough to display with my other model cars.  Upon closer examination, the lower standard of Majorette model cars is more apparent.

Functions:

The doors and boot can be opened, which is the basic criteria for all 1:24 scale model cars.  The steering wheel can steer the front wheels right and left very easily.

- points:

The doors are really thick and there’s hardly a gap between the doors and the seats when the doors are closed.  The boot opens to an empty space inside with no model engine in sight.  Or is the engine supposed to be in front?  Anyway, the bonnet can’t be opened to verify that.  The handbrake is made of very soft plastic and is as thin as paper.  The dashboard is lacking in details, and there are no foot pedals!

+ points:

Nevertheless, the overall painting is decent and the lights look quite realistic.  The mirror stickers are perfect, just slightly pasted out of position but that’s fine, as long as the mirror stickers are not damaged.  And most importantly, the car moves along very smoothly on a flat surface!

Overall opinion:

In summary, this shall remain as my only Majorette 1:24 scale model car.  If I find a better replacement from other brands like Bburago or even Maisto, I’ll replace it with those, provided they have the 1:24 scale Porsche Boxster in silver color.  For now, this Majorette version will do.

My Fastest Expanding Toy Line Collection Of The Year Award goes to:

My 1:24 scale die-cast Lamborghini model cars collection!

Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo, yellow and black 1:24 scale.

Comments: I had only 2 cars last year and by now I have 9 of them, including 1 yellow Murcielago Roadster (below) that I got for myself this Christmas.  I even had the Roadster gift wrapped by the store that I bought from, for the Christmas feeling and I’m going to open it on Christmas Day!

MotorMax Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, yellow 1:24 scale.

Maisto Audi R8, white 1:24 scale.

I also have 2 non-Lamborghinis: an Audi R8 (above) and an Aston Martin DB9 (below), all in 1:24 scale.  The latter has also been gift wrapped and is sitting under my Christmas tree.  It’s another gift to myself this Christmas!

To think that I managed to clear off prime drawer space when I sold off a large portion of my baby My Little Pony collection during the year, only to have it quickly filled up by just a few cars.

Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggeras, bronze & yellow 1:24 scale.

I can’t explain why I love the Lamborghini car so much.  This supercar just appeals to me since I first took close notice of it last year and I now can’t stop collecting the 1:24 scale models.

My next acquistion target is the1:24 scale Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia model (above) by Bburago, that is scheduled for release this year.  Gosh, it’s a never ending vicious toy collecting cycle!

Expanded toy sections at Popular Bookstore

Popular Bookstore is a local household name for selling school assessment books and stationery.  They also sell a wide variety of fiction, non-fiction adult and children’s books, magazines, music CDs plus CD-Rom games and PC pheripherals.

Some of the larger outlets like the one at Northpoint, Yishun now has a huge toy section that takes up about a quarter of its shop space.  I was there yesterday evening and was quite impressed with its overall selection of in-trend mass market toys for sale, like Ben-10, Bakugan, Power Rangers Operation Overdrive, Barbie dolls, Littlest Pet Shop, and even Playmobil.

However I was sorely disappointed by its pathetic My Little Pony section that had only remnants of very just 6-7 old stock ponies that nobody wants.  Fortunately, the saving grace for me was its well-stocked up model cars section for Maisto and Bburago brands.  There were 4x more 1:24 scale model cars than the 1:18 scale ones.  I even found the latest 1:24 scale Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (both the yellow and bronze version) there.  If you have the Popular Member’s card, you can get a discount off the toys.

Bburago Lamborghini Reventon 1:24 scale

These are photos that I collected of the 1:24 scale Bburago Lamborghini Reventon.  I couldn’t have taken better shots of my own model than these.  Currently this popular model car costs SGD 22.90 at the departmental stores in Singapore.

I’ve seen this model car in other colors such as white, red, yellow, silver etc. on other websites.  I don’t think those are by Bburago.  However, I find that the Reventon looks best in dark colors such as dark matte grey here, and even in black.  This makes the more angular edges less overwhelming.

Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia 1:24 scale

I’m delighted to know that this Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia by Bburago is now being sold by online die-cast model car sellers, though I don’t see it in any of the local departmental stores yet.

Last year, I found the 1:18 scale model by Maisto in our departmental stores and my visiting pony collector friend from New Zealand bought hers from here when she spotted it.

I’m not sure if I’m getting this model as I expect it to cost SGD 22.90 like my recent 1:24 scale Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggeras.

At least the bonnet can be opened, unlike those of my Superleggeras, which made feel a bit cheated for paying SGD 3.00 more for one less function.

I’ve also seen the real Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia in action on YouTube.  You’ve got to see it to believe it.

Here’s another YouTube video where the police officer who drives this car was interviewed.  He had ever pulled over drivers who were initially very indignant about getting caught for speeding but when they saw his Lamborghini Gallardo Polizia, they promptly handed over their driving licenses.  Some of them even bowed to his car, haha.  I think the locals there generally respect their Italian super car brands.

Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera review

Well I normally get my toys during a sale but I couldn’t resist upon seeing these 2 Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggeras (1:24 scale) selling at a departmental store on Friday.  Fortunately I had some store vouchers with me and I used them to get these 2 model cars at a ‘discount’.  Actually I was hoping to save those vouchers for non-toy stuff that I could use, but oh well, I used them anyway.

Bburago Bronze Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera 1:24 scale - front view.

I find that it would be easy for Bburago to make the 1:24 scale Superleggera because they could have easily re-used the same mold for the Gallardo.  They just needed to change the boot cover and sports rims.  However there were indeed some slight differences in the new 1:24 scale Superleggera mold.

Firstly, the Superleggera’s bonnet cover can no longer be opened like in the Gallardo.  I want back the bonnet that can be opened!

Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggeras

There are here at last!  The latest 1:24 scale Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggeras by my favourite toymaker, Bburago!  There are only 2 colors to choose from - yellow with black door stripes, and bronze with black door stripes.

Bburago Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera 1:24 scale MIB.

I’m not a fan of racing stripes, hence I prefer these 2 model cars to not have the door stripes and be in plain solid colors throughout instead.  However once you take the cars out of their boxes, the door stripes look kinda good on them.

Bburago Bronze Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera 1:24 scale.

Despite Bburago being consistent in its standards and qualities, I finally ended with an imperfect 1:24 scale yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera.  This is something you can’t tell until you test the car by rolling its wheels on a smooth table or floor.

Bburago Yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera 1:24 scale.

The yellow Lambo I got has a right front wheel that seems to hinged up too high that it bumps onto the interior of its die-cast metal body covering, making a lot of noise as it jerks along with great difficulty, as if it is braking all the time.  I wanted to go back to change for another similar car but as really like the painting on this one, I decided to look into resolving the issue myself.
