After my flea market visit yesterday, I went to a departmental store in Chinatown to check out their latest toys and other items that I might be interested in like bags etc.  The departmental store was also having its yearly anniversary sale, hence most items were at 20% off!  I didn’t find any new My Little Pony figures while the Justice League range there seemed unchanged for months.  Boring I thought.

Then I checked out their die-cast model cars section.  There were mainly repeated stocks for the Bburago section, and the Maisto section looked quite well stocked up with car models that I had already seen before.  Anyway just out of curiosity to see if I could by any chance find a 1:24 scale Bugatti Veyron model car, I went through all the Bburao and Maisto boxes.  Alas, I only found an “antique-looking” Bburago Bugatti.

However while searching through the Maisto boxes, I was pleasantly surprised to find 2 white Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 in the 1:24 scale!  I had waited for a white Lamborghini in the 1:24 scale for a long while and it is finally here!  It was also on 20% discount and I bought it!  Actually I wanted to have a white Lamborghini Gallardo and a white Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder in 1:24 scale, but the stunning white Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 is a good start.

I much prefer Bburago’s products and I rarely buy Maisto model cars.  My only other Maisto model car is my white Audi R8 (1:24 scale) that I bought from another branch of the same departmental store in May.  Since then, I’ve never managed to find another similar Audi R8 in any of the departmental stores here.  Anyway now that I have a Maisto Lamborghini, I can compare its quality with my other Bburago Lamborghinis.

This stunning Lamborghini “Number 5″ is my latest aquisition last month during the Great Singapore Sale.  I got it at 20% off in one of the departmental stores.  It’s such a beauty, of course my other Lamborghinis are just as gorgeous too!

I have a penchant for Lamborghini cars ever since I saw a splendid white Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder make a short appearance during last year’s National Day Parade preview (in June 2007). 

I was fortunate to get tickets to watch that National Day Parade preview on the world’s largest floating stage.  While entering the premises, everyone had to walk past the ‘holding area’ for performers and their vehicles.  That white Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder was parked there within easy photo-taking reach!

On the same day I bought my 1:24 scale Bburago Lamborghini Reventon, I also picked up a 1:24 scale Maisto Audi R8 (white color).  I first spotted the real car (also white color) parked in front of a hotel along Orchard Road some months ago.  At that time, this model was still new to me and it looked like an in-between of a sports car and a sedan car.  Although it was designed to be more of a sports car, it is rather tall for one and the front resembles that of a family car.

Recently Audi did more marketing of this model and even a famous local internet marketing guru just bought one.  Over the weekend, I went to watch “Iron Man” and in the movie, the main character Tony Stark (aka Iron Man) was seen driving this baby (the white one) around in a number of scenes.  After the movie, I passed by a credit card roadshow by a local bank and they had a picture of the same car (in white color again) on their promotion banner.

Finally I visited a departmental store and spotted a 1:24 scale Maisto Audi R8 (you guessed it, white color) there.  I was thinking: “why is this car ‘following’ me wherever I go?”  The Maisto model looked rather nice and there wasn’t a Bburago version around.  Although there was also another 1:24 scale Maisto Audi R8 in blue and silver color,  I prefer the white one.  Incidentally as there was a sale at that store, I bought the white car, ‘breaking my tradition’ of buying Bburago Lamborghinis only.
