Star Wars Morning Sale at OG Orchard!

Star Wars Morning Sale at OG Orchard on 24 July 2010.

This info is mainly for the Star Wars fans who are into 3.75-inch “The Vintage Collection” figures!  Take a look at the full online banner advertisement on the OG website for more details, like what will be on offer and what exclusives and attractive prizes to look forward to.

Star Wars Morning Sale at OG Orchard on 24 July 2010.

According to the OG staff, this will be a special 2 hours morning sale and the Star Wars toys offered here will be exclusive to OG only.  Well actually I’m not sure if it’s just the Boba Fett figure that will be exclusive, since he’s not for sale but is meant as a special redemption figure for this occasion only.

The main sale will start at 8am and will take place at the ground floor of OG Orchard upon entering through the main doors.  A second section for the Star Wars morning sale will take place at the foot of the escalators that lead up to the next floor.  For regulars customers to this departmental store, they will know where I’m referring to.

Only these 2 specially condoned areas of the entire store will be opened for the sale and the Star Wars customers.  After 10am on that day, the second sale section might be shifted upstairs to the toy department so as to make way for the regular operations of the store, when general customers start to stream in.

Early Bird Specials - If you look at the link to the OG website, they also mention that the first 150 people in the queue will receive a SGD 15.00 voucher to be used on the same day, for minimum purchase of SGD 40.00 worth of participating Hasbro Star Wars items.

Lucky Draw - If you intend to participate in their lucky draw for the top 2 prizes of exclusive FX Lightsabers (worth SGD 249.90 each), your lucky draw entries must be submitted by 10am that day.  Once again, you may refer to their full online banner advertisement on the OG website for more details.  Happy Star Wars toys shopping!

List of SDCC exclusive toys for 2010!

SDCC 2010 logo.

The annual San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) 2010 is just around the corner (22-25 July 2010), and the long awaited list of its highly anticipated SDCC 2010 exclusive toys can been seen at their official SDCC website now!

Usually I would aim for the SDCC exclusive My Little Pony, but I have acquired mine early this year when a major local retail store brought in and sort of ‘accidentally’ sold some stocks off its shelves last month.  Those ponies have since sold out, probably all scalped for resale and the store doesn’t have any more to restock.

Anyway, if you are keen on getting your hands on some of the SDCC 2010 exclusive toys, you can place your pre-orders with your respective regular local toy shops that you patronize, or get them from ebay after this month.  If you are not overly keen to have them but feel that it would be nice to collect some, you can test your luck and see if our local major departmental stores or TRU might bring them in after July.  Sometimes we do receive some leftover stocks from the SDCC after many months!

So cross your fingers, and happy toys collecting!

US My Little Pony Fair 2010 Exclusive Pony

My Little Pony Fair 2010 Exclusive Pony.

US My Little Pony Fair 2010 Exclusive Pony

We’ll probably call her Kiwi Pony, since she has the colors and designs of kiwi fruit slices on her body!  The US My Little Pony Fair 2010 will be held on 17-18 July, at the state of Kentucky, which is also the home of the famous Kentucky Derby!

Yeah, I know Singaporeans mostly remember the fried chicken brand, but for horse lovers like me, we know that that Kentucky is also the location of some of the most famous thoroughbred racehorse stud farms in the US.

Plus there are the Keeneland Yearling Sales (yearling racehorse auction) and the Churchhill Downs Racecourse (home of the Kentucky Derby) there.  Haha, I used to be so into horses before I went into toy collecting many years ago!  Hence I still remember all these horsey info!

Anyway back to the Kiwi Pony topic, I’ll be getting her online from MLP Arena with the other local pony collectors, like we always did in previous years.  I am so looking forward to July 2010 to get my Kiwi Pony!

San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) 2010

San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) 2010.The annual mega toy event in the US - the San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) 2010 will take place from 22 to 25 July 2010.  Each year, toy companies, toy merchants, toy collectors, comics and movie fans etc. will gather there to admire, buy, sell, trade toys, as well as obtain the latest press releases of various collectibles toys to be released to the market.

At every SDCC, special exclusive toys from many toy companies are available for sale directly from their exhibition booths.  Long queues will form at the most popular booths for toys that will eventually end up with collectors, mostly through online auction sites like ebay, or through collectors’ toy shops that manage to secure them.  Sometimes if there are excess stocks, certain SDCC exclusive toys may become available at departmental stores many months after the SDCC.

Locally, many collectors’ toy shops make their own arrangements every year to bring in SDCC exclusive toys for their customers here.  For last year, Toy ‘R’ Us Singapore brought in lots of Hasbro SDCC exclusive toys and sold them during the Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention (STGCC) held in August 2009.

The excess stocks were subsequently spotted at some departmental stores over the next several months that followed.  At the beginning of this year, the last of the remaining SDCC exclusive toys (e.g. G.I.Joe The Rise of Cobra) finally went on clearance sale at departmental stores and sold out or were returned to Hasbro Singapore.

For this year, many local toy collectors are feeling cautious and decide not to be too hasty in buying SDCC 2010  exclusive toys at inflated prices anymore.  They have learnt their painful wallet lessons from seeing their precious SDCC 2009 exclusive Hasbro toys selling for less than the retail prices of normal store version items from the same toylines.  Such are the ‘perils’ of toy collecting that every collector experience from time to time.  Everything we do in life is a gamble, even our toy hobbies!

Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2010

Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention 2010 banner.

I haven’t been checking out the Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2010 official website for a very long while.  They have updated their website and we finally have the dates for the STGCC 2010.  This shall be the 3rd year for the STGCC and the dates are getting later and later with each year.

In the 1st year, the STGCC was held in June 2008.  Then in the 2nd year, it was held in August 2009.  For 2010, it shall be pushed back even further to December, reason must have something to do with their collaboration with the New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2010, to be held from 8-10 October 2010.

Well, the good news is that most toy collectors here would likely have gotten their year end bonuses to spend on more toys for Christmas!  The main downside is that I doubt many toy collectors can wait up till 6 months later to lay their hands on the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2010 exclusive toys, that will be available from late July 2010.

For last year, many SDCC 2009 exclusive Hasbro toys were available for sale at the STGCC.  For me, I shall acquire my yearly SDCC exclusive My Little Pony from my regular local toy shop soon after their annual visit to the SDCC in the US.  I have seen the unofficial photos of that pony online already and she’s now on my toy want list for 2010!

Meanwhile, happy waiting for all the major toy events in the US and Singapore!

STGCC 2009 preview - SDCC 2009 exclusive Hasbro toys for sale

As you view the various toys on display in the showcases at the Hasbro cum Toys ‘R’ Us (TRU) booth, you will notice little slips of papers and short red pencils placed at the sides of the show cabinets.  These pieces of paper contain the entire list of Hasbro products for sale at the Singapore Toy, Games & Comic Convention (STGCC) 2009

Hasbro cum TRU shopping lists with pencils provided.

You indicate the quantity of the listed toys you wish to purchase on the paper, and then head for the cashier counters to make your payment (via cash, credit card).  After making payment, you proceed to the collection counters to collect your purchased items by showing both your receipt and toy list (which the cashier will staple together).  Voila, it’s that simple!

The annual San Diego Comic Convention (SDCC) 2009 just ended yesterday.  It lasted from 23- 26 July 2009.  As such,  the SDCC 2009 Exclusive 2-Faced Hero cum Villain Pony is now available for sale on Hasbro Toy Shop!  The current coupon code is MLP9 for 10% off!  The main drawback is that Hasbro Toy Shop ships to the US and Canada only, hence international buyers will require help from US residents or US-based agents to receive the pony.  In Singapore, we can use the services of vPost by SingPost.

The SDCC exclusive in the past years sell out very quickly (within days!) upon being posted for sale on Hasbro Toy Shop straight after the SDCC ends.  So if you are keen to get this ‘dual personality’ exclusive My Little Pony, make your orders today to buy at ‘original retail price’!  Alternatively, you can also get her from ebay all year around, but the prices there will tend to fluctuate.  It really depends on your preference.  Happy MLP hunting!

“Description:

  • Specially designed for collectors!
  • Designed by artist Junko Mizuno!
  • Fuzzy clothing!

Known for combining the macabre with the adorable, it only makes sense that Hasbro would team up with the great Junko Mizuno!  Her drawings combine freakish monsters with adorable people, coated in bright colors with a dash of “awww.”  This sensibility translates well to this new pony, featuring a fuzzy hood, flowers, tentacles, flames, pink eyes, and pink hair.  While she might look good in a toy box, she’ll look even better on your desk or on a shelf.  If you’ve ever wanted to impress your friends with an arty creation from a member of pop art royalty, now is your chance!”
