Website technical error this week…

LEGO Castle series - King's Battle Chariot.

…If you had visited my blog a couple of days ago, you would have noticed that you had no access to it at all.  My apologies for the non display of information during that frantic period.  My blog was indeed down after my failed attempt to upgrade my Wordpress version.  As it turned out, the latest Wordpress version isn’t compartible with the current template that I’m using.  Hence my blog couldn’t load even though all my years of data were intact.

I have to clarify it had nothing to do with my webhost provider.  Nevertheless, they were very swift in their solution replies to me but being unfamiliar with technicalities, I couldn’t really grasp everything they mentioned.  But in the end my blog was restored and I’m relieved to get it back online again.  Basically I had to uninstall that latest incompatible Wordpress version and re-install the old version that I had been using all this while and that was it!

Thinking back about when my blog first disappeared from my domain, I had indeed panicked for a while but as the hours went by, I was kinda prepared to accept the possibility that nearly 3 years of blogging posts could be lost forever.  I had done my back up but because I couldn’t see anything online, it sort of felt that everything had been lost already…

Then a wave of calmness swept over me as I sat there and I felt a kind of “release”.  After all I had been like a “slave” to my blog almost daily for the past few years, as I strived to post something everyday.  Then I gradually had nothing much new to mention about toy collecting, hence I started to blog on alternate days since last month.

This new alternate day blogging is a much better arrangement for me and I hope my readers are well with it too.  I don’t know how long more am I going to continue blogging about toys, but at the moment I am still going on with it.  Who knows like many toy collectors and bloggers I know, this is going to be a life long hobby for me!  Happy toy collecting and blogging everyone!

My laptop needs repairs

My Little Pony Blue Art Collector Pony.

Well, this has actually to do with my laptop rather than my blog or website.  But in a way it’s also a technical glitch.  My less than a year old lap top has been giving me problems in the past few weeks.  It started off as mild flickering of the screen, and now the glitch has progressed into “jumping” of the screen images.

So that means I can barely read anything on the screen because the images jump and jerk very violently and too rapidly for me to even aim for and click on the “shut down” button, much less read anything on the screen.

Hence I’ll need to send it for repairs and my blog posts will have to be held back.  I guess the weekend could mean that the service centre would mostly likely to be more crowded.  That also means having to take my queue number and wait in line with many others.

Oh how I dread such down moments!  But the repairs need to be done and in the meanwhile, I’ll have to use my old laptop, which is slower in speed, but still usable.  Thank goodness that I still have a back up machine to use!  My blog posts are ready but the photos I need are in my problem laptop, argh!

Update: My laptop screen needs to be replaced and the parts have to be ordered.  Expected waiting time frame is 1-2 weeks, my goodness!

Intermitten online connection from my router

Marvel Universe Ms Marvel action figure.

I’ve been having some intermitten wireless internet connection lately because my router is malfunctioning.  Fortunately, the cable connection method still works for now.  Getting online has been a chore for me.  I’ll see if I can fix the problem, if not I’ll have to get a new router.

I’m currently using LinkSys.  It came as a package with my broadband package.  It served me well for about 5 years.  Does anyone have a router brand to recommend?  Or should I just get another from my internet service provider?  Do give me your suggestions!  Thanks!

Categories section of my blog expanded

Marvel Universe Ms Marvel action figure.

I’ve updated my blog with some navigational links by expanding the Categories list found on the extreme right of my blog.

I added in the major toylines and toy brands that I regularly blogged about for easier search of past blog posts.

If you prefer, you can also use the “search this site” function on the top right corner of this blog.  Happy reading of toys information online!

Use “Search this site” function for toylines I blogged about before

Marvel Universe Classic Iron Man action figure.

I’m currently reorganising the ”categories” and “labels” sections on my blog.  This is to make it easier to link to my past blog posts on all the various toylines I’ve shared here before.  It will be a gradual process, hence do be patient.

In the meantime, if you wish to check out my past blog posts on certain toylines, you can use the “search this site” function on the top right corner of this blog.  Let’s say you wish to read about Avatar movie toys and everything related, just type in “Avatar” into the box and search for it.  Currently I used this function to refer to contents on my past blog posts.

Happy reading of toys information online!

Taking a blogging break today

ROTF Deluxe Sideswipe - car mode.

The title says it all.  I’m going for a spin with my Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Sideswipe today!

My Toy Gallery photo updates

ROTF Deluxe Preview Bumblebee action figure MOC.

I’ve done some updating of My Toy Gallery page with the latest toys in my collections, especially the Transformers!  Some of the photos were taken when the toys were still MOC.  I have since removed some of them from their package, but have not taken their loose photos yet.  Once I gather them together, I shall post their photos in that page!

Today’s updates include my Transformers Movie 1 & Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) Deluxe action figures and other ROTF miscellaneous toy collections.  My ROTF toy craze all started because I bought my first Transformers Deluxe toy (above) in May this year.  Since then, it has been a never ending path of collecting this toyline…

My Toy Gallery page updated with more toy photos

I’ve added more photos of toys collection to my “My Toy Gallery”.  The link can also be found on the top navigational bar of this blog.  The additional photos were previously taken for my past individual blog posts about my respective toys and I’m starting to consolidate those photos to that one page.  I’ll need to sift through my past blog posts and will continue to add more toy photos gradually!  Meanwhile, there are already over 30 photos there now!
