Christmas thoughts
While visiting Orchard Road last Thursday evening, I stopped by outside Tong Building and was mesmerized by the creative and hilarious musical skit called “Heavenly Hero, Chosen One”, performed by a church group. It was a locally revamped version about the birth of Jesus Christ, heavily dosed with lots of olden Singapore, Old Shanghai and the odd Mexican flavours. It lasted about an hour and I must say the performers did a wonderful job!
I was actually feeling not so enthusiatic about Christmas this year. Since many years ago, Christmas to me was mainly shopping for Christmas exchange gifts, overspending on impulse items, being stuck with everyone else in overcrowded malls, being bombarded with endless streams of Christmas carols played in the stores and so forth. Then the skit struck a chord in me and brought me back to the true meaning of Christmas.
For years I had sort of detached myself from the real world and it is only in the past 6 months did I gradually make efforts to find my true path in life. I believe I have found my path and I hereby use the next Christmas in 2008 to measure the distance that I would have covered and progressed along my chosen path in the coming year.
