Did you ever regret from delayed buying of toys?

Marvel Universe Red Hulk action figure.

Yup, that pretty much asked it all!  Sometimes in the course of toy collecting (and perhaps in other aspects of life), you thought that you could do without a certain toy or decide to buy it later.  Then when that toy became sold out or no longer available (because it’s passe stock), you suddenly want to kick yourself for not getting it when it was widely available everywhere then.

Perhaps, you thought that you could bet on the lucky chance of getting it at a clearance sale some day. But alas that hopeful day never came, and the reality set in that the toy had ‘disappeared’ out of your reach, locally.  The other option is to specially import it yourself (e.g. from ebay) and usually at a higher price, though they could sometimes be cheaper.

Some collectors would claim that they would forget it and just move on.  Others would keep dwelling on that horrible regretful feeling that keeps tormenting their poor souls day and night.  Sometimes it can be difficult to decide when is a good time to buy toys - when they are right in front of you on the retail shelves at original retail prices, at clearance sales, or when your paycheck comes etc.?

So did you ever feel regret from delayed buying of certain toys too?  If yes, how did you deal with it?  Do feel free to share your comments here!

Wow, no one ever had any such regrets? Really? :)

Yeah, Hot Toys Davy Jones. Missed out on it and couldn’t find one anyway, not even when I was in HK!

If I missed out buying a toy, I’ll just think that I have saved the money for buying some other toys. Then I’ll wait until the next time I see that toy to buy it.

Are you still thinking about it? :(

yes…it was the set of Marvel Legends toys that forms a Sentinel when the set pieces are complete. I’d buy it in a heartbeat now, if I could go back to that time. I was too stupid that time.

    Hi owenkenobi,

I think you can find this ML Sentinel figure selling on ebay or other toys selling places. There are sellers who sell just the complete ML Sentinel figure only, if the other ML figures that come with it are not crucial to your collection…

ya, it’s sad…, but as you’d said, like ‘in other aspects of life’, i learn to move on after some sort of mourning… some things are not meant to be, and some things pass away….weep weep but anyway, there are lots of other toys to cry over. just don’t remind me…. ( of the red dragon again!!!)

by the way, can i ask what do you do with those boxes? especially those that cost below $30sgd and made in china toys.

    Hi ran,

You mean the empty LEGO boxes? I flatten and store them in my cupboards. For TF or action figure backcards, I also keep most of them with nice pictures. But there are many that throw away, such as the GIJ packagings that I accidentally ruined while opening them :P
