Dragonball Evolution Movie Action Figures in Singapore

Dragonball Evolution movie action figures.

I saw hordes of these Dragonball Evolution movie action figures in several departmental stores along Orchard Road today.

My initial reaction was “they’re here already!”.  There are 2 sizes of action figures available.

Then my next response was “they’re so small!”, at around 4-inches tall for the smaller action figures!  I wonder they are made so small.  It’s not like they’re gonna fit into a space ship like the Star Wars action figures or are they…?

And finally when I turned their backcards over to see the price tag - “Wow they’re so expensive for such tiny action figures!”, at SGD 19.95 for each small size action figure!  The larger ones (at around 8-inches tall) with special actions cost SGD 29.95 each! *Gasp*

Dragonball Evolution movie action figures.

Every departmental store that was selling them had tonnes of them on the rack.  It’s either they had just put them up for sale today (after all Friday’s a popular stock up day for many departmental stores here), or people are not buying many of them.  The entire range of Dragonball Evolution movie toys were available (note: just refresh the link if the page does not load).

I’m still getting over my shock toy discovery today, about their prices mainly…*double gasp*…

See my earlier blog post on Dragonball Evolution movie toys.

I saw them. Not nice and not worth buying that!!

  2. Katsuden on March 29th, 2009

Saw the figurines at Taka. For a toy set at this price, I expect more detail sculpturing to the figures. Sad to say they are pretty disappointing especially Yamcha.

    Hi deSMOnd,

Agreed, I prefer that Bandai Super Saiyan Goku I bought recently for only SGD 6.95! :)

  8. Juliana Heng on April 1st, 2009

    Hi LEon,

I think if Chichi was made into an action figure, she’ll probably in her fighting attire :)

  10. Juliana Heng on June 19th, 2009

    Hi JiHao,

I think they cost SGD 19.95 each. Many of the major dept stores like Metro Paragon and Isetan Scotts still sell them. But I don’t know if they are on discount now. I stopped observing this toyline soon after the movie :P Anyway, the sculpts aren’t that great, so you aren’t missing much…

  11. JiHao on June 19th, 2009

  13. Juliana Heng on June 19th, 2009

    Hi JiHao,

I can’t remember if Taka has them. Metro Paragon is opp Taka and it still has them. Same for Isetan Scotts. Anywhere else, I don’t know. I’m in the ROTF mood now :P

  14. JiHao on June 19th, 2009

    What is ROTF??

  15. Juliana Heng on June 19th, 2009

    Hi JiHao,

It’s “Revenge of the Fallen”, the live action Transformers movie sequel opening in local cinemas next Wed (24 Jun) :)

  16. Jihao on September 13th, 2009

Bulma has 3laser gun,can it be removed?
Is Mai and ChiChi figure availible??

  17. Juliana Heng on September 14th, 2009

    Hi JiHao,

    - The figures are about 10cm or 4-inches tall each.

    - Bulma’s 3 laser guns can’t be removed. They are attached to her.

    - No Mai or ChiChi figures were made. If Bandai didn’t make Fulum and Goku 2 (blue costume), they could have made Mai and ChiChi instead. Too bad.

    - This toyline has ceased production as the movie didn’t and toys didn’t do well.

  18. Jihao on September 14th, 2009

That’s pretty weird…in the movie,Fulum was shown less than 5min…Mai and ChiChi acted more scened than Fulum..realy weird.

  19. Juliana Heng on September 15th, 2009

    Hi JiHao,

Toy Companies believe that action figures are traditionally toys for little boys, and little boys tend to prefer male characters to female ones. Hence you notice that most action figures toylines rarely have female characters because they tend to be unpopular with little boys.

These days, slightly more female action figures are made, but they are targeted more at the older toy collectors who want the whole set, regardless of the character gender.

    Hi JiHao,

    - Blu-Ray is the next and more advanced technology that will eventually replace the DVD, just like the DVD has already replaced the VCD. You’ll need a Blu-Ray player to play Blu-Ray discs. It’s more expensive than DVD because it is newer technology (more high tech).

At your age, I’d expect you to know something about the latest entertainment technology like Blu-Ray. Even if you don’t own it, you should at least have an idea of it. Technology changes so quickly these days that if young people like you can’t keep up, what chance do older people have?

This is the world you are born in, so you need to also use the internet to keep up with current affairs and broaden your general knowledge. Don’t just go online to read info about Dragonball Evolution only…

This is the last question I will reply you. Go and learn to use Google to search for info you want.

I am a fan of Dragonball…but is their toy worth buying?

  22. Juliana Heng on September 20th, 2009

    Hi Wei,

It depends on how much you like it..

  23. Johnny on November 2nd, 2009

Hellos, this DBE figures are a little dissapointing to me.They are not that nice.

  24. Juliana Heng on November 3rd, 2009

    Hi Johnny,

For Bandai’s early attempts at a toyline based on a live action movie, the sculpts are quite ok. Bandai had been more successful at replicating the images of animated art characters more convincingly into toys, like Gundam.

It’s just that Bandai still used the same few basic points of articulation for its DBE figures. Then they price it higher than the Hasbro 3.75-inch figures to ride on the movie hype that never came. Bad pricing killed the DBE toyline..

  25. Johnny on November 18th, 2009
