G.I. Joe Movie action figures - wave 1
The movie - G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra is set to screen in the cinemas here early next month. That’s why you’ll see lots of these little 3.75-inch G.I. Joe Movie action figures appearing in our local departmental stores this week. They are set to be Hasbro’s next big thing after the current Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) movie craze.
As a kid, I didn’t watch and I wasn’t interested in ’military-themed’ cartoons like G.I. Joe. Maybe it’s a good thing, then I don’t have much expectations if I see the movie. These action figures retail for SGD 18.90 each. I don’t like the green and black packaging design. It looks more oriented towards the older toy collectors rather than younger kids.

Whoa, these G.I. Joe Movie action figures come with their own stands! Why didn’t Hasbro include the stands with their Marvel Universe and X-Men action figures of this scale!? I feel so cheated!! Now I ’hate’ seeing these 3.75-inch Hasbro action figures. They remind me of the things that I should receive but didn’t get. That’s so unfair!

Coz you are a girl collector, I recommend you get either Baroness or Scarlett, but I highly recommend the latter coz that is what I currently hauled from the new Joes toys, looking forward to get Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow next!
Hasbro really is making big bucks for making TF, Starwars and G.I Joe. The toys is out so soon before the movie. I bet Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow will be the more popular ones.

For TF and Star Wars, I’m sure high costs of design, engineering and sculpting were invested. Hence Hasbro reaps the rewards of it.
For G.I. Joe, I’m not familiar with it. Only the fans who have been collecting it will know if it’s worth their retail price
I was tempted to get Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow but did not…I think I will stick to the 25th anniversary series instead! (old school!)

Hellos..i like collecting G.I Joe figures…i had only 3 so far.I bought Cover Girl,Baroness as well as Storm Shadow(Paris pursuit).I am so gonna buy Duke,Scarlett,Ripcord,Snake Eye and Commander Viper.TO be honest,these figures ARE famous and expensive,do u agree?The movie had cool character,cool action and i bet there would be part 2…LOVE IT! =)

If you like this toyline, I suggest you buy the more popular and harder to find characters first. Then wait for a clearance sale to buy the rest of the more common ‘peg warmers’
I like the movie too, and will wait for the eventual price reduction of the DVD before getting it. That’ll probably be about a year later

The figure that are hard to find is Rex,the doctor.There is a figure that named Agent Helix.But i dont think i saw Agent Helix in the movie.It’s pretty weird.I am not a ToyRUs memeber as my house if not near any of them.So i seldom went to ToyRUs.I dont collect those Vehicle set.I only interested in the 3.75inch figures that cost $18.90 . To be honest,Snake Eye figure is a little dissapointing to me(3.75inch) because some parts were painted red,instead they painted black,it seems like the whole figure of Snake Eye are black.Neo Viper is the most unfamous figure if i am not wrong.

The disc will probably be released around Nov-Dec 2009. Normally it’s about 3 months after the movie stopped screening in the cinemas, but the disc will be priced higher for at least the first month. Wait for an eventual price reduction, perhaps sometime next year

I’ve got a Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes (black wolf version) on consignment in my toy lockers at Toy Outpost (Plaza Singapura). The owner bought this piece, then decided that he preferred the grey wolf version. Hence this piece is for sale and it also comes with a nice double-sided G.I.Joe movie poster for free!
I’ve seen the series consisting of Agent Helix, Cover Girl etc. on sale at some Popular Bookstores. You can drop by and take a look at the bigger outlets that have toy depts. Agent Helix is likely a character in the comics or PC game. I wish her hair highlights are blond, instead of grey, which makes her look really old

I’ve seen these action figures out of package in online photos and in video reviews on YouTube. Snake Eyes does have the tiny red color hexagram symbols on his shoulder joints. It’s supposed to be his ninja clan logo.
In the movie, this character’s costume is almost all black that I hardly noticed any other coloring on him when I watched it
Neo Vipers are those “brainwashed” Cobra troops seen the later parts of the G.I.Joe movie.

Yes, Toy Outpost (situated at Plaza Singapura, 7th floor, diagonally opposite the Cinema box office) is a shop that rents out its shop space in the form of glass lockers for people to sell their stuff there. It is managed by Simply Toys.

Yes. Zartan changed his appearance to become the US President. He was seen taking his seat in the President’s office and whistling his trademark tune while he put his feet onto the table. That was shown as the ending scene of the movie.

The others I saw in the US were Ripcord and Duke in Accelerator Suits, Pit Commander, Sgt Stone. But their paintwork were bad. The rest are the common peg warmers also seen here. I didn’t come across City Strike and Arctic Assault Snake Eyes there..

I’ve seen and handled a loose piece of the Cobra Gunship belonging to a friend. The color may be a little dull, but at this clearance price, it’s still ok.
When the stocks eventually run out, you’ll feel relieved that at least you bought one while it was available
