Have you accidentally damaged your toy packaging?

ROTF Legends Devastator action figures.

Have you even encountered a scenario where you painstaking chose the best piece out of the many pieces of a certain toy at a store, only to accidentally ruin its pristine packaging yourself after you bought it?

Well, it happened to me quite a few times before.  On those unfortunate occasions, I had accidentally dropped the MIB or MOC toy; knocked the bag containing it against something along the way home, or I carelessly kicked it (it was placed on the floor) while walking about in my room.

After the efforts of selecting the creme de la creme, it was all ruined in split seconds just like that.  In the end I opened those toys and threw the imperfect packaging away.

How about you?  Has this happened to you as well?  Do feel free to share your experiences here!

Some kid bumped into me after I got some toy (can’t remember what) and caused some of the packaging to tear.

So I called him a fatso and told him to watch where he was going. Didn’t notice his mum was with him. The look on her face was priceless.

when, i was into diecast cars, i wanted all my toys to be mint on mint cards/boxes, however, just bringing them home is a problem when there are huge crowds at the mall, before you you reach your car, the bag containing your precious momc toys have been bumped around.

i have also ripped the edges of the boxes of some tomica diecast cars while opening them. the worst i think was when the sliding glass doors of my sliding cabinet catches one of my carded/boxed toys.

these days, i no longer care much about the mintness of the packaging of my tf toys as long as the toys themselves are mint, i set them loose most of the time anyway. :)

    Hi Kenny,

You had the right to be angry. There’s no point always being the one to tolerate other people’s unacceptable behaviour. Gotta show some temper every now and then to let off steam, if not one will ‘explode’ one day from accumulated anger inside. Of course it depends if the circumstances allow some steam release :D

    Hi Bany,

It’s true that once you set your toys loose, the packaging condition doesn’t matter as much. However it’s only so for me if I paid a good discount for the MOC or MIB toy.

If I paid retail or a premium price for it, it pains my heart a little. I’m supposed to have the privilege of enjoying the toy in its mint packaging, regardless of whether I eventually set it loose or not…

    Hi Juliana,

The first crease on the box always hurt the most.

I always not so particular about the boxes. I am more concern about the items inside. Or even if I want to keep that particular toy in MISB, I will put it in a place where nobody is able to damage it. So, never happen to me before as I am very Kiasu type. I will put the thing I want in a safe place straight away after reaching home :)
