How many is too many for army building toys?

Yup, the post title says it all!

For toy collectors who build armies of the repeated or similar (usually) soldier toys, do you have a target on how big your toy soldier armies are going to be?  If not, you will just keep pumping in more money to buy the same soldier character toys over and over again.

In a way, won’t it become like a sort of extreme obsession?  Some collectors have army toys that are more than enough to cover the entire floor of their bedrooms!

What about you?  Are you an army builder toy collector too?  How do you manage your rapidly expanding army toys, in terms of storage or display space, money and your emotions etc.?  Do feel free to share your thoughts, comments and suggestions here!

hey juliana, my pet topic for sure ;p for me, i just buy what i like and not all of the same kind. Many of the 1:6 soldiers have differences in terms of equipment, gear and weapons and so i can build a squad if i like. i wouldn’t consider myself an army builder, i just collect what i like but ended up with lots of them LOL :>

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your input and sharing! So your army tends to build up ‘naturally’ as you collect the soldiers for their different weapons and accessories, right? :D

    hiya Juliana
for me, 3 is the limit >_<

since I’m collecting lot of lines (but only some characters within each line), I ran out of space pretty quickly…better just to army-build up to 3 of the same figures and save more room for another armies ^^’

maybe that couldn’t be consider as an army building huh?? T_T

    Hi nuo2×2-Seiichi,

Well, army building tends to refer to collecting more than 10 per piece. Having 3 of the same toy is more like collecting extras :P

woah, 10 piece or more?! o_O

then,my character collections could not be considered as army-building, they’re more likely to be some small squad scattered around X D

how about a troops that consist of less than 10 person, like Shocker Rider squad from the Kamen Rider series. They only consist a total of 6 troops, could we say we army built their figure after completing the whole 6? what do you think Juliana, thanks ^^

    Hi nuo2×2-Seiichi,

Collecting variants of the same character wearing various attire isn’t army building. It’s more of collecting variants :)

Less than 10 soldier figures seems more like a squad for doing infiltration missions. Armies on the other hand are massive in numbers. The armies of figures can fill up a table top surface :P
