More Movie Transformer Deluxe Bumblebees found!

Movie Transformers Bumblebee MOC (2008 Chevelot Camaro)

I thought that my chance discovery of Movie Transformer Deluxe Bumblebee at one store last week was just a one-off lucky encounter, but I was wrong.  While out window shopping today, I found 4 more MOC Bumblebees at another departmental store!  They were all hanging on the same rack but another Transformers toy was hung in front to ‘hide’ them all.  I happened to spot them behind because of their bright yellow color, plus they were very poorly ‘hidden’ by just one other Transformers toy.

I hung the other Transformers toy back in front of the Bumblebees and walked away for a while to view other toys.  When I returned to the Transformers section, a gentleman dressed in office attire stopped by to look at the Transformers toys there.  He was quick to spot the poorly ‘hidden’ Bumblebees.  He took out every piece and picked one of them.

After he left, I went back there and looked at the remaining Bumblebees.  One of them had some painting defects on the doors, side mirrors and headlights.  I was tempted to pick that ‘defective’ piece to open as a display piece.  However, I felt that it was not worth to pay full retail price of SGD 26.90 for an’imperfect’ toy.  If that piece is still there when there is a sale, I might consider getting it.

Anyway I still don’t get it, where are the Barricades and Jazzes?  They should be in the same series.  I’m a bit out of touch with the local Transformers collecting trend.  Bumblebee is a very highly sought after character among kids and collectors, of whom many of them hardly have the chance to find Bumblebee in the stores.  Most of the time, the toy specu-vestors would have bought up all the available Bumblebees.

I wonder where have the toy specu-vestors gone to lately?  Or perhaps there had been tonnes of Bumblebees released in the stores lately that those I had seen are merely the leftovers?  Nevertheless, it is a nice change to be able to view MOC Bumblebee in person.  Maybe the demand for this toy has finally cooled off like the local property prices.

The Bumblebees 2-pack consisting of the 1974 and 2008 Chevelot Camaros (battle-damaged variant) were also sold at the same store.  They were priced at SGD 59.90 per pack.  This is more than twice the price of a single-pack.  I don’t like the look of the battle-damaged variant.  I like my collectible toys to look ‘clean and prestine’.

Nevertheless, this set would make a suitable close alternative for kids wanting to have their own Bumblebees to play with.  Since the kids are likely to damage their toys anyway, a battle-damaged Bumblebee variant might just suit them fine while the collectors take the rarer and harder-to-find ‘perfect’ Bumblebee!

This is the world of toy collecting.  If you are new to this concept, get used to it when you are into toy collecting and specu-vesting!
