My Little Pony photos from Paris Toy Fair 2009 - Part 1
These preview photos for Hasbro’s My Little Pony 2009 toy line are provided by magicfeuilledethé of MLP Arena. She had the privilege of attending the Paris Toy Fair last month and shared these photos with online pony community this week. Thank you magicfeuilledethé!

The regular-sized ponies are getting a new look this year. Here we have Rainbow Dash 2009 (above) and Cheerilee 2009 (below) with part-molded and part-yarn braided mane. I don’t know what to say, for they don’t look much like actual ponies anymore. I think they look more like a kind of Pokemon! I’ll probably give this pony series a miss and focus on the special edition and exclusive ponies that still resemble ponies.

In the above photo, you can see probably the last of the regular-sized pony, Scootaloo (orange pony at the back) in the boring but “can-save-manufacturing-costs” core 7 ponies pose. She has painted yellow boots and carries a detachable little tennis racket on one leg (how on earth do ponies play tennis!?).

The new humanoid Ponyville figures are seen in the photos above and below. They are displayed with some normal Ponyville figures that stand on all 4-legs in these new Ponyville playsets for 2009. The above playset looks like a grocery store (great, if ponies can run a business then so can I!) while the below playset looks like a house (it reminds me of the 80’s Strawberry Shortcake house I used to play with).

Next we have the human babies-like Newborn Ponies with their accessories and nursery playset for 2009. I personally do not fancy this series too and I only like some of their cute accessories. By the way, I had confirmation from other pony collectors that these Newborn Ponies have no tails! What a shame! I mean giving them each a tail like all other ponies have, shouldn’t add too much to the manufacturing cost right?

Anyway I’m also skipping this Newborn Ponies series for 2009. One of my pony collector pals here is very keen on the nursery playset and he already received some these newborn ponies as gifts from another pony collector in Australia (yes, Australia tends to get their new pony stocks faster than Singapore and most other places like the USA).

magicfeuilledethé also took photos of the My Little Pony catalog for first half of 2009. I shall post and blog about them tomorrow. Come back again to view them!
