ROTF Scout action figures - waves 1 & 2
The following ROTF toys are now available in our local departmental stores since their official launch on 30th May 2009!
Scout Class (SGD 18.90 each):

Waves 1 & 2: Dead End, Dirt Boss, Rollbar, Knock Out, Ransack & Depth Charge.

All the ROTF Scout vehicles look very cool and quite well detailed for their sizes. Their transformation processes do not seem complicated. Rollbar in particular looks more like G1 Transformer. On the whole, the ROTF Scout Class toys look like they have better paint jobs than their fellow Deluxe and Legends Class counterparts.
As usual, these ROTF Scout Class figures will look much better out of package, though some of their robot modes look a bit weird. The Scout size is somewhat between the Deluxe and Legends Class toys, making them not to scale with the rest of the main ROTF toyline. At least the small ROTF Legends Class toys are in a ‘world’ of their own. I wonder how do the ROTF Scout Class figures fit in with the Deluxe, Voyager and even Leader Class figures?
Preliminary popularity observations during the first 2 days of the ROTF toy launch over the weekend reveal that Depth Charge takes a slight lead over his peers. Personally I like Depth Charge and Knock Out, though the former looks like he’s wearing baggy jeans! I think that the kids may like Dead End for this bright red colors, though I dislike his name. The potential shelf warmers could turn out to be Dirt Boss and Ransack. These are just my guesses, for only time will tell the eventual results.
And so, the marines and racers look to lead the pack in the early round. I think a lot of kids and casual collectors aren’t familar with this set of ROTF Scout characters. For me, perhaps I’ll wait for a sale to pick up a couple of these ROTF Scout toys at a huge discount. If something better comes along in the later waves of the ROTF toyline, then I’ll skip this lot. Happy ROTF toy hunting!

Picked up Ransack, Deadend, Rollbar and Knockout.
Ransack is insanely fun for me, simply because…he’s a Biplane! Don’t see that everyday!
Rollbar is blocky, but in a good way, and his transformation is more complex than one would think. Very G1ish. Deadend is decent, in a weird, vampire-car sorta way, but meh. Knockout is like a perfection of the Energon bike-chick mold, but damn, the panels on his legs fall off at the drop of a hat, which gets irritating with a shocking speed.
Dirtboss just doesn’t look that nice, so I passed him up, and now there’s about 20 of him and Depthcharge warming shelves at my local walmart.
Can’t praise Ransack highly enough though. He’s fun in a steampunk sort of way, and looks very insect-like in robot mode. My favorite of the scout line so far! :]
Hi NorthernSteve,
Thanks for visiting my blog and for the detailed toy reviews!
I’ve only got Knock Out and I think that Human Alliance Sam and other figures might be able to ride him. The leg panels do fall out but still bearable for me. I’m so glad that Knock Out’s robot mode is not seahorse-shaped
My recommendation is scout class is to get Ransack, Dead end, Dirt Boss and Knock Out! But Ransack is the best in my opinion so far for the scouts, coz the alt mode is unique! and bot mode looks like a ghost bot!
Hi Nicolai,
Thanks for sharing about the ROTF Scout toys!
