ROTF “Straightaway Shootout” Legends 5-Pack action figures

ROTF Legends action figures - 5 Pack box set.

This Target exclusive Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen (ROTF) “Straightaway Shootout” Legends 5-Pack has been spotted at a departmental store (OG) this week!  It retails for SGD 39.90 per box.  The box set contains:

- Ironhide (dark grey repaint of TFTM* version),

- Swerve (red repaint of ROTF Sideswipe),

- Mudflap (slight duller shade than the ROTF single pack version),

- Runamuck (white repaint of Jazz from TFTM*) &

- Sparkcrusher (repaint of Transformers Universe Warpath).

*TFTM = Transformers the Movie

One thing to note is that the names of the 5 Legends figures are randomly printed on the bottom front of the box, and do not coincide with the positions of the toys packaged in the box itself.

Hence it can be quite confusing for buyers who are not familiar with all these characters.  For me, I had to turn the box around to confirm which ones are Runamuck and Sparkcrusher!

Currently, there’s a 10% discount on “Straightaway Shootout” and other ROTF toys if you have the OG card.  If you don’t have the OG card, you can just top up your purchases to a minimum of SGD 75.00 on the same day during this month (Sep 2009) to get your free OG card on the spot!  Read more details about getting a 2009 OG card here!

    Have been waiting for this for quite some time since I saw some pics over the Net. I really want the Swerve, Runamuck and Ironhide. The Warpath re-color looks cool too, green is so appropriate for a tank. However, I already have 2 Mudflaps, one I set loose and one MOC since I really like the twins. :)

    It’s good it has been released there. Hope to get the set soon. :)

    Why they didn’t include Skidz with it!! Anyway I got my OG card. LOL

    Hi Bany,

    Hasbro always do things like this to make people buy doubles or multiples of something they already have, even if the colors vary. The variant toys are basically repaints of previous molds used. We must resist the temptations to “fall into greater evil” :P

    This series is a “No” to me..

    Hi LEon,

    They did this on purpose, so that people need to buy another box set (with 4 other figures they probably already have) to get him! :P

    Congrates on getting your OG card :)

    Hi all, got something great to share with you all. Today I went to Chinatown OG all $18.90 Revenge of the Fallen figures buy one get one free! However it’s only the $18.90 figures, the rest is still the same. I think its a good deal.

    By the way it is printed on the price tag buy one get one free. I didn’t ask the OG salegirl about it.

    Hi Hippo,

    Thanks for the good news! I’ve blogged about it in today’s posting :D

    Did you buy any?

  10. Hippo on September 19th, 2009

    I didn’t buy but plan to get two tomorrow. The price is too good to resist. But is this the same at Orchard OG?

    Hi Hippo,

    The 2-for-1 ROTF Scouts offer is a great buy if you like this series :) It’s the same at all OG outlets, but the variety of Scout characters will vary with location :P

    Hi Hippo,

    Thank you for the good news! I believe that Hasbro will release the Legends class for the entire ROTF movie cast, like they did for the first TF movie. Gotta wait :)

    Hi Juliana,

    Check this out, another ROTF redeco pack:

    http://www.imagechicken.com/uploads/1253577232075338800.jpg

    Autobot Blades = TFTM Starscream
    Jetfire = repaint
    Thundercracker = ROTF Springer
    Spinister = TFTM Blackout

    Saw this 4-pack at Toy Kingdom (TRU competitor in the Philippines).

    I did not buy the pack, not really that excited about it, but I might get it in the future just to complete my ROTF Legends. I find the price too high for repaints (of shelf warmers at that), PHP1,900 or around US$40 or around SGD 3,957.

    Please excuse the blurry pic, I used my mobile phone’s camera and I’ve got shakey hands, hehe.

    :)

    Hi Bany,

    Thanks for the photo! :D Hasbro is doing its repaints strategy again!

    You notice how Hasbro has this annoying habit of printing the names of the Legends figures that do not coincide with the positions of the Legends toys packaged in the box set? It’s so confusing to know the names of these repaints just by looking at the front packaging! :(

    Same for the earlier ROTF Legends 5-pack:

    http://www.julianaheng.com/rotf-straightaway-shootout-legends-5-pack-action-figures/

    Btw, isn’t Legends Thundercracker a Starscream repaint just like TFTM Voyager Thundercracker was? :)

  16. [...] has done it again with the “repaint” strategy on its toys.  Like the ROTF “Straighaway Shootout” box set, the names of the 5 Legends figures are randomly printed on the bottom front of the box, and do not [...]

    Hi, Juliana,

    You are most welcome. :)

    Yup, I noticed that annoying placement of names, dunno if this is a strategy or something. :(

    Now that you mentioned it, yeah, the Legends Thundercracker is the small version of the Voyager one.

    For sure this coming Christmas season, the stores will again be swamped with further repaints. Not to mention the RPMs, which have already come out with many variants, imagine 3 Camaro Concept Bumblebees (Movie 1 without autobot logo, Movie one with, Movie 2 with), Ratchet came out in green and black with green trim. :(

    Hi Bany,

    It’s the curse of the Hasbro toy repaints! :(
