ROTF Voyager action figures - wave 1 & wave 1 rev 1

The following ROTF toys are now available in our local departmental stores since their official launch on 30th May 2009!

Voyager Class (SGD 51.90 each):

ROTF Voyager Demolisher action figure.

Wave 1: Demolisher.

To be frank, Demolisher is looks hideous and impractical in robot mode.  He is also way undersized as a Voyager Class figure because he is supposed to be a giant-sized excavator (probably at least 4 storeys tall at the cabin)!  However when you see his destructive powers in the movie trailers, you’ve got to respect him for who he is.  My guess is that he might gain popularity after people have seen his awesomeness in the ROTF movie.  Online video reviews (on YouTube) of this ROTF Voyager Demolisher toy have confirmed that he can stand on his own in robot mode, using his 2 hands to help him balance.  Hence no worries there!

ROTF Voyager Ironhide action figure.

Wave 1 & Wave 1 Rev 1: Ironhide.

Ironhide is included in both wave 1 and wave 1 rev 1 assortments.  Hence he is quite plentiful in the departmental stores now.  He also looks much better out of his box.  Seeing him MIB in his vehicle mode doesn’t bring out the best in him.  His massive new cannon looks well placed in both his vehicle and robot modes.  He’ll make a great addition to any Transformers toy collection!

ROTF Voyager Optimus Prime action figure.

Wave 1 & Wave 1 Rev 1: Optimus Prime.

This version of ROTF Optimus Prime looks kinda weird with the Chinese words printed on him.  I think his character supposedly went on a short stint in China in the upcoming ROTF movie.  So he thinks that having some cool Chinese words on him will help to blend in with the local vehicle community?  Somehow, I wish this Voyager toy is in brighter shades of red and blue instead, and with the yellow and orange fire markings.  I’ll wait to see if there will be another ROTF Voyager version painted in brighter colors.

ROTF Voyager Starscream action figure.

Wave 1: Starscream.

Starscream looks to be in a new mold and his new Cybertronian markings look great on him.  The main beef I have on his jet mode is that his claw-like hands are visibly sticking out from the jet rear!  They sort of ruin his otherwise very cool jet look.  And I still can’t get over his perculiar robot mode shape.  He definitely displays way better in his jet mode!

ROTF Voyager Ratchet action figure.

Wave 1 Rev 1: Desert Tracker Ratchet.

Thankfully ROTF Voyager Ratchet is still green in color, though in a duller shade.  For fans who missed out on his first movie toy equivalent, this one’s a good alternative.  Incidentally, GM is selling the Hummer brand (Ratchet’s vehicle model) to a Chinese company.  I hope that the Hummer will get revamped and continue to thrive in the future, for Ratchet’s sake!

ROTF Voyager The Fallen action figure.

Wave 1 Rev 1: The Fallen.

Do you notice that The Fallen is the only 1 of the 6 ROTF Voyager Class series to be packaged in his robot mode?  The rest are in their vehicle modes.  The Fallen looks quite cool in both his spacecraft and robot modes.  Somehow he reminds me of the Aliens from the movie “Aliens”.  I actually dreamt of myself being chased by The Fallen a few nights ago.  It felt so real, as if I was inside the ROTF movie!  Come to think of it, it was quite a frightful nightmare!

 ——–

Ok, preliminary popularity observations during the first 2 days of the ROTF toy launch over the weekend strongly indicate that The Fallen is the clear hot favourite with both kids and collectors!  By Sunday, he was nearly gone from almost all the stores that had him on Saturday!  He’s actually part of the Wave 1 Rev 1 assortment (together with Ironhide, Optimus Prime & Ratchet).  He should number the same as Ratchet.  Hence if you see whatever number of Ratchets in the store, there should around an equal number of The Fallen at the same store too.  If The Fallen is sold out there, counting the number of Ratchets left behind will give you an idea of how many of The Fallens were sold before you arrived!

And therefore the black aliens take the early popularity lead, followed closely by the striped jets.  It seems that this time round, the Autobots are losing ground in the early popularity rounds.  The potential shelf warmers look to be the trucks and excavators.  In some places, the excavators are also dwindling in numbers.  On the whole, the ROTF Voyager action figures are still worth getting if you are a hardcore fan.  For the casual fans, wait to get them at around half price during a sale, probably long after the movie is over!  Happy ROTF toy hunting!

    Hi deSMOnd,

Yup, Demolisher will be quite a force to reckon with in the upcoming ROTF movie! I really sympathize with the Autobots. What did they ever do to deserve such enemies? All for the sake of providng us viewers with ’smashing’ summer entertainment! :P

    Hi deSMOnd,

I’m from Penang & was lucky to catch the last leader class prime in Toys’rus Queensbay Mall during the 30th May TF toys launch. I grabbed Leader class Megatron, deluxe class sideswipes & sideways as well. It’s unforgetable experience cause I rush to Gurney Toys’rus at 1st. but all leader class prime sold out at 0730am!! then I try my luck at Queensbay. Finally I successfully grab 1 before other “competitor”.Nowadays,it’s hard to see any leader class TF toys in Penang. Today I just add in voyager Starscream to my collection, now look forward to leader class jetfire, & the rumored leader class starscream (not sure firm or not). Though the toys version Power-up Optimus Prime looks so so, hopefully the movie won’t disappoint us…
Don’t know when is this leader class jetfire coming out? Do you have any info bout it?

    Hi Reagan,

It’s nice to know another TF Movie toy collector! It was also very competitive to buy ROTF toys during the Singapore TRU midnight sale on 30th May 2009, from what I read in other local toy blogs.

Leader Jetfire is expected to be available for sale online in August 2009. Perhaps even in July 2009, depending on your local stores. These are just estimated time frames to be used as a guide.

    Halo…Juliana,

Wow that’s the cool link you shares… Thanks!
It’s pity Malaysia din have the legend class series.
I’m sort of surprised too when I find out legend class OP & JF could bind into Power-up OP.

    tata…

  8. Juliana Heng on June 15th, 2009

    Hi Reagan,

Well, Legends OP and JF combine in a very simple way, by pegging JF’s jet mode onto OP’s back in robot mode. Not too hard for the toy designers :)

It can help to sell the Legends JF too, if not he might be a shelf warmer. His robot mode looks like a huge mosquito! :P

My favorites on this wave of Voyager is Starscream, Demolishor, and Optimus(I like his voyager mold, big backpack and all!)!

Demolishor can also be used as an Alt arm for Megsy… (pic coming soon!)
