Singapore Toy Market at China Square Central
I’m pleased to find this video which features the main highlights of the current Toy and Flea Market at China Square Central in Singapore. This weekly Toy Market actually started out as a flea market at Clarke Quay around a decade ago. Then it moved to its present location only about 5 years ago because Clarke Quay was being revamped into a more ‘upmarket touristy’ spot.
It is still essentially a flea market with some stalls selling ‘antique’ looking olden days items like teapots sets, jewellery boxes, ornaments, etc. The ‘antique’ sellers had come over from Clarke Quay, like all the regular toy sellers there. However, this is one unique flea market where the stalls are in an air-conditioned commercial, although some stalls get a bit of the morning sun because they are located next to the large clear glass windows.
Even though the official opening hours of the market are from 9am to 5pm, most toy sellers only start setting up their stalls at around 11am and the crowds only stream in from 12noon when all the sellers are ready. Of course there will be toy shoppers who go earlier to ’snap up’ the ‘rare goodies’ first before other collectors arrive.
I just visited the market on Sunday and nothing much has changed. The sellers and the variety of the stalls are still about the same. I got to catch up with some old friends, who wondered what had happened to me. I just stopped going for a year plus because of other committments on Sundays. Nevertheless, I’ll be there again on this coming Sunday with another toy collector friend for an outing, and maybe lunch plus shopping at the nearby malls!

Hi farid,
You’re welcome!
You can go check out CSC to see how they are now. However if you’re no longer collecting toys, then I suggest you don’t visit there for CSC is a ’sinful’ place (esp on your wallet)
