Sweetie Belle’s in Singapore!
I went out to Orchard on Friday evening and was very pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the latest G3 unicorn My Little Pony Sweetie Belle, as well as her other 6 pony friends, in one of the departmental stores there. Together, these 7 G3 pony characters are known as the “Core 7 Ponies” by the My Little Pony collectors’ online community. I had been lamenting in my blog over the past few months on the lack of new (regular-sized) pony stocks here and now my wishes have finally been fulfilled! This new set of ponies have been very late to arrive in the local stores that I nearly gave up hope of seeing them here. Too bad the Valentine version of Sweetie Belle wasn’t sold here. Nevertheless, I wasted no time in selecting and buying this long awaited unicorn pony!
The pegasus pony, Starsong was also available, but the close to a dozen Starsongs at the store had symbols that were printed way too low on her hindquarters. It looks like a bad production run as the Starsongs on the photos posted in the MLP Arena forum showed her with her symbol in a much more centralized position on her hindquarters, than the ones I saw here.
Now that I have seen Starsong in person, I find that her wings are not that well made. The wings are also much smaller than the previous wings design for the G3 pegasus ponies, making them look too disproportionate to her body size. Nevertheless, I will see if I can find Starsong at other stores to get one with a better symbol ‘position’.
