The wonderful sights of the Las Vegas Strip

The following are the photo attractions at the Las Vegas Strip, plus the great variety of beautiful hotel architecture to admire.

The Mirage Hotel at Las Vegas.

This is where I stayed for 5 nights at Las Vegas.  Just look at the luxurious amount of space they have for the driveway!  This is typical of the many large hotels there.  The dome-shaped roof above the lobby houses an indoor garden (which I forgot to take a photo of) that has a mini bridge and waterfall features.

There is a huge pond outside the hotel where everynight, a water fountain that replicates the the “eruption” of a “volcano” will take place.  You can view a video of The Mirage volcano eruption on YouTube.  This other video has the full version of the The Mirage Volcano performance.

Here’s a phot of the hotel taken at night while I was going back to my room.  The banners showing “The Beatles - Love” was sold out for the 5 nights while I was there.  I wonder why it was so popular though.  The replica volcano can be seen in the same photo.  You can view a video of The Mirage volcano eruption on YouTube.  This other video has the full version of the The Mirage Volcano performance.

The Mirage Hotel at Las Vegas.

This is the view from my hotel room on the 14th floor.  The pool belongs to the hotel.  In the distance, you can see one of the numerous mountain ranges of the Nevada desert.  Las Vegas is built in a very huge and flat valley.  There were hardly any clouds in the sky during my stay.

Bally's & Paris Hotels at Las Vegas.

These are Bally’s Hotel and Paris Hotel.  The replica of the Effel Tower is a distinctive landmark along the Las Vegas Strip.  The Las Vegas Strip is long stretch of straight road where the most happening attractions of Las Vegas are situated.  The various major casino hotels and hotel shows are located there.  The concept is similar to Orchard Road, our local shopping belt.  For the Las Vegas Strip, it’s their hotel casinos and hotel shows belt.

This shot shows you just how huge that replica Effel Tower is!  It’s quite enormous for a replica!

The water fountain in front of Paris Hotel at Las Vegas.

Water fountain features are abundant along the Las Vegas Strip.  I wonder if they are mainly for aesthetics, or for fengshui reasons, or perhaps both?  The biggest fountain must be the one outside Bellegio Hotel (to be seen in a later photo).

A yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder for rent at the Las Vegas Strip.

How could I resist not taking this photo and the following one?  Regular readers of my blog will know that the Lamborghini is my dream car!  My main regret when I saw this car was that I did not convert my drving license to an international one for my trip to the US.  There is actually a race track at the outskirts of Las Vegas where you can learn to drive such exotic cars for a few hundred USD, “knocks my head into my palm”…

“If only I had my international license with me” was the dominating thought in my head as I took these photos… “shakes my head in despair”.  And so the moral of the story is, to do a thorough research of your holiday destinations in all areas of your interest before you go there.  Don’t just research about the typical “one size fits all” tourist attractions meant for everyone in general.  Now I know…

The Bellagio Hotel at night in Las Vegas.

Here’s Bellagio Hotel at night.  The huge pool, or you can call it a mini lake, in front is actually a large musical foutain that performs once every hour till midnight.  The fountain looked at least the size of a football field.  It’s amazing that our water foutain at Suntec City is referred to be the largest one in the world.  That one at Bellagio Hotel is really huge!  You can view a video of The Bellagio Musical Fountain and more on YouTube.

Caesar's Palace Hotel at night in Las Vegas.

The night view of the Las Vegas strip.

A night view shot of the Las Vegas strip.  I rarely took night photos because it was very cold at night.  I only took out my camera once in a while during the chilly nights.  My hands were too cold that I put them in my pockets most of the time!  And you wonder how a desert can be so cold!?

Come back again tomorrow to view the indoor photos taken at the Las Vegas Strip, especially those of the shopping areas!
