Toy collector observed in a TV show

Marvel Universe Action Figure - Ms Marvel in black costume.

I’m currently following a Hong Kong drama serial on my local cable TV channel where there is a character who is a very obsessed toy collector.  She owns 2 of her favourite toy figurine, which is also a limited edition item.  She keeps one at home and carries the other one in her bag whenever she goes out!  She’s goes quite ‘crazy’ too when meeting another fellow toy collector of the same toyline.

But when you see her room in the show, there’s only one tall glass display cabinet with very few figurines displayed inside, all rather far apart from one another.  The hardcore toy collectors in reality, have way many more toys in their collections, that it’s nearly impossible to distinguish the individual toys from one another from one glance at their toy display cabinets!

Looks like the show producers are not ‘realistic’ enough in this character portrayal!  Either that, they didn’t find enough props to ‘fake’ it, since the character’s room may not be a major scene in the entire show!  Haha…!!

    Hi Jcee,

It’s called “Yuan Lai Ai Shang Zei” or “Catch Me Now”. You can see more info about this drama at this link:

The female toy collector I mentioned in my blog meets a male collector of the same toyline, but this guy is part of a modern day Robin Hood gang. He accidentally dropped his limited edition collectible figurine keychain during a mission, and that gave vital clues to a very smart and observant top cop to track and hunt down the gang members.

The female collector happens to be the sister of the top cop, and her brother learns from her that toy collectors must have a complete set of their toys. And so the top cop got the toy company to organise a game (with that limited edition figurine as the prize) to lure out that male collector…

    :D

Haha omg I had a “feeling” it was going to be this drama lol, but I thought “What are the chances?” with so many HK dramas.

Actually I thought about this one because it is currently our 8pm Chinese drama. We have two daily dramas at 8pm and 9pm and “Catch Me Now” just started last week. Last episode ended with that guy lining up for the Mimi figure haha

I am loving the whole concept of this drama with the professional theives and all. Can’t wait for tonight’s episode! haha

    Hi Jcee,

Wow your place is showing the same drama too! This show is our 9pm HK drama on cable TV and it’s around the same episode pace as yours, also started last week :P

Our current 8pm HK drama is about people working in the ‘dying’ trade of stone carving (incl tombstones), but the show title sounds nice - “Jin Shi Liang Yuan” or “A Journey Called Life” :)

Interesting to hear you guys have the 8pm and 9pm schedule too. Our current 9pm one is D.I.E., the one with Roger Kwok and his special powers when he touch the possessions of the dead victims. I’ve already watch this before so I only watch Catch Me Now. Just saw her bedroom with her display case when that guy went in to steal it haha
