Toys ‘Rock Concert’

Today, I was supposed to read through some 2006 Company Annual Reports before clearing them from my room.  Yes I am still doing spring cleaning in preparation for Chinese New Year next week.  Instead I was distracted by my toys who were all gathered in my room to watch a Saturday afternoon rock concert by “The Hot Rocks”.  I sat down and watched part of the concert and I was amazed by their rather high standards and entertainment value for their small sizes!

Some years ago, I bought 2 pairs of mini matchbox-sized Transformers figures simply because I found them very cute.  They were Hot Shot (a black rally car) , R.E.V. (a yellow Lamborghini look-alike), X-Brawn (a grey SUV) and Scourge (a black prime mover) .  They were from the “Robots in Disguise” series.

Hot Shot and R.E.V.

For many years, the 3 Autobots (Hot Shot, R.E.V. and X-Brawn) would gang up on the lone Decepticon, Scourge.  Then late last year, The 3 Autobots suddenly became hooked on singing to entertain my other toys.  They formed a rock group and called themselves “The Hot Rocks”, with Scourge as their manager.  The Hot Rocks began holding a series of rock concerts and they belted out hits by The Stingers from the JEM cartoon series and even songs by the current Disney teen rock sensation, Hannah Montana.

Apparently my other toys are now crazy over them and the 3 rock members have also found themselves a trio of gorgeous female Hot Wheels sports cars (a red Ferrari, a yellow Lamborghini and a grey Cadillac) as their most ardent fans and supporters.  I have not looked at this group of toys for so many years that I nearly forgot I own them!

'Transformers Legends' Movie Figures

When I brought 7 similar-sized Transformers Legends movie figures home in last October, the movie Autobots found themselves outnumbered by the movie Decepticons 4 to 3.  Hence the former often lost in their almost daily fights with the latter.

When movie Optimus Prime heard that there are other Autobots in my toy collection, he wanted to combine forces with Hot Shot and company to defeat the Decepticons.  Alas, The Hot Rocks have been so successful in their new found singing career that they declined to revert to their Autobot roles.  Needless to say, Optimus Prime nearly dropped his jaws.  To worsen the matter, The Hot Rocks are now working with Scourge, which makes it like they are ‘consorting with the enemy’.  And so the movie Autobots continue their outnumbered uphill battle with the movie Decepticons.

I wonder where did The Hot Rocks learn the songs they sing from?  I think they might have turned on my laptop while I was asleep at night to access my music files and watch rock concerts on You Tube.  I recall that they had wanted to hold an overnight rock concert during the Christmas week last year but I rejected them because that would disturb my sleep!  Hence now they usually hold their fortnightly rock concerts on a weekend afternoon.

The Hot Rocks have pretty good and creative dance moves too, often spinning, rolling, turning, drifting, leaping and best of all, transforming frequently on stage to the joyous delight of their toy fans and me.  They definitely know their music and rhythm too.

This afternoon movie Optimus Prime was at the backstage to persuade The Hot Rocks back to the ‘correct path’ once more but was stopped by Scourge.  They both nearly had a fight there while the concert was going on.  Luckily movie Jazz and Bumblebee separated them in time and they left with a fuming movie Optimus Prime.

Geez, my toys have such ‘exciting and colourful lives’ too.  I bet I can make mine much better than their non-existent and imaginery ones.
