Transformers Legends Bonecrusher

Transformers Legends Jazz and Bonecrusher 2-Pack

These 2 Transformers Legends are still widely sold as a 2-pack in the stores here.  Bonecrusher is also rather plentiful as a single pack in almost every store.  It is quite obvious that no one really wants him.  Firstly, he didn’t leave a deep impression in the Movie due to limited screen time.  Secondly, he looks terrible as a robot and thirdly, his vehicle form is kinda ugly.  Is he supposed to be some kind of excavator?  Oh yes, his colors are also extremely dull.

If I do get Bonecrusher, it’s only to complete my collection.  But then again, my collection can do without him.  There are 5 Autobot characters vs 7 Decepticon characters in the Movie.  I think the Movie producers and scriptwriters could have left out Brawl and Bonecrusher to even out the odds between the good guys and the bad guys.  Fortunately, the extra Decepticons were more brawns than brains, so greater physical numbers for the Decepticons did not matter too much, except to create more action-packed destruction in the Movie.

Bonecrusher is actualy one of my favorite legends from the first movie. He’s pretty fun to pose in all sorts of ’skating through a bus’ and ‘over-enthusiasticly hugging prime off a freeway’ positions.
And he transforms into something called a Buffalo Mine Excavator. I dunno, i guess the big arm thing is meant to pick up landmines from a save distance away.

    Hi NorthernSteve,

Thanks for your comments! :) When I made this blog post last year, I didn’t have Legends Bonecrusher yet. I eventually picked him up when his single pack versions were almost gone from the stores.

I must say that seeing Bonecrusher in person sure beats looking at his photo. His transformation process is quite neat for his size. Legends Brawl also became one of my surprise favourites :D

he is really suppossed to be a military vehicle used to dig up land mines with its claw

    Hi david,

That’s what I found out later too after writing the above blog post.

In real life the claw is much smaller, but I read that Michael Bay wanted it bigger for Bonecrusher so that it can “convincingly” flip over other vehicles along the freeway :P

    Hi Bany,

I recall seeing Bonecrusher’s vehicle mode making some cameo appearances in the ROTF movie. I think he was seen with the other “clone” Constructicon vehicles, am I correct? :)

    Hi Julian,

Yup, you’re right, Bonecrusher’s in ROTF, altough some have said it’s only a clone. :)
