Wolverine vs Sabretooth: Back Road Brawl - in Singapore

Following my earlier blog post about the arrival of 3.75″ X-Men action figures in the stores here in Singapore, I am delighted to find that the departmental stores here have re-stocked their X-Men merchandise for this weekend!  The figures here are all priced at SGD 18.90 each, while they cost only USD 7.99 each in the US.

Anyway, I finally had the chance to meet all the cartoon version X-Men action figures (based on the new “Wolverine & The X-Men” cartoon series) in person.  There are 8 characters in the first wave of the cartoon version action figures: Cyclops, Wolverine, Iceman, Colossus, Beast, Logan, plus 2 villains Magneto and Avalanche. 

To my surprise, our local Toy ‘R Us (TRU) also brought in the TRU exclusive box set called “Wolverine vs Sabretooth: Back Road Brawl”.  There were at least 50 boxes of them at TRU!  They cost only USD 19.99 in the US but here in Singapore, it’s SGD 44.90!  However after factoring the shipping costs and currency conversion, I guess it costs around the same if a local toy collector were to ship a box over to Singapore from the US.  Too bad, our local TRU can’t give us the more reasonable price tag of under SGD 30.00 per box.

The “Back Road Brawl” box set consists of Wolverine (or rather Logan) in white shirt and jeans, with black jacket and cowboy hat; his motor bike; and of course the highlight TRU exclusive Sabretooth!  Sabretooth is huge for this scale and he’s in his classic comic book costume, with a pearlized paint finish.  If only they sell him on his own, as I don’t want Logan and his bike!

The more I see these photos, the more I want that Sabretooth figure!  There’s also gonna be another long-haired variant Sabretooth figure to be released with Blob in the near future.  That other Sabretooth is also dressed in his classic comic book costume like this “Back Road Brawl” version but does not have a pearlized finish.  I’m looking forward to seeing that one in person too!
